mamasa Posted February 11, 2024 Posted February 11, 2024 When she had first committed to IU, we took a vacation in Maine. We stayed about 45 minutes from Gorham - I was all excited to get a feel for her game. Not a single person I talked to (and I’m a talker lol) had ever heard of her, and knew nothing about girls basketball. Bet it’d be a different story if I go back now thebigweave, LockdownD, LamarCheeks and 1 other 4 Quote
Class of '66 Old Fart Posted February 11, 2024 Author Posted February 11, 2024 Encouraging post-game comment. Teri Moren says Sydney Parrish participated in part of the team's shootaround today. "She's making progress. I don't know if we'll see her on Wednesday, but she just keeps feeling better every day." LockdownD, OliviaPope40, mamasa and 1 other 2 2 Quote
Class of '66 Old Fart Posted February 11, 2024 Author Posted February 11, 2024 Austin Render - This should not be lost in today's shuffle. All Coach Moren does is win. Before Moren there were 6 20-win seasons in program history. She has 9 in a row. LamarCheeks, LockdownD, mamasa and 2 others 5 Quote
TheWatShot Posted February 11, 2024 Posted February 11, 2024 Nebraska did us a favor today, but MSU was a no-show. If we manage to beat Iowa at home we might need them to win when they host OSU. Class of '66 Old Fart, LockdownD and Todd41 3 Quote
TheWatShot Posted February 11, 2024 Posted February 11, 2024 I will admit that I'm not real plugged in when it comes to women's basketball programs outside of IU, so maybe I'm missing something here. But in 3 years at Purdue, Gearlds missed the tournament her first year, was one of the last four in a year ago, and is on track to miss it again this year, with a team that starts 4 seniors, and is currently tied for 12th in the conference. She's 0-6 against IU. Yet I'm seeing positive chatter a lot of places about how they've got a good one, even after we beat them by 32. Is it just relative to Versyp? Like I said, maybe I'm not aware of something, but I do remember how Moren's 3rd season here ended: after a Big Ten tournament loss to Purdue that allowed them to take our NCAA bid and sent us to the WNIT, fans were upset that Glass had screwed up another hire. Difference in standards, maybe? I don't know. Quote
Class of '66 Old Fart Posted February 11, 2024 Author Posted February 11, 2024 Geralds started with Tom Crean's first year type material leftover from Versyp whose recruiting was pretty woeful. IMO Geralds will be a force to be reckoned with in the B1G. Maybe her best freshman recruit she lost to an early season ending injury. On paper, her 2024 recruiting class looks pretty solid. Quote

I tried Yogi's for the first time, I received a Teri Moren bobblehead, I saw Indiana beat Purdue, and I saw Mackenzie Holmes make history. I still can't make the a** drop on my drop-top, but it was a good day. LIHoosier and craigyv88 2 Quote
