We were staying in Spring Mill State Park at the time. The recession had taken down a bunch of restaurants and eating out was slim pickings. Toured the casino and resort. Checked out antiques/flea markets and caves. I really enjoyed a good sandwich and beer at 33 Brick Street.

However, the pertinent issue was about the wonderful Bird memorabilia.  Multiple NBA POY and team awards and trophies, and college awards just too numerous to list.  Phenomenal!

I am curious if the owner responded to the photo search inquiry.

Yea the Bird stuff is pretty normal. Obviously has his own street and massive head by the school. Though I don't believe he was the first NBA player from the area. I think there was actually someone else. Professional athletes are not a normal in this area. In fact, D1 atheltes are incredibly rare. Have had one since Evan Seacat from Paoli went to Northwestern. Which I believe Mike Davis should have recruited Seacat(great 3pt shooter in HS) and Anthony Winchester from Austin(went on to win Conference POY at Western Kentucky). Paoli-Austin had amazing battles during that time.

Larry Bird was an Indiana University men’s basketball player for one month.

Does a genuine, not photoshopped picture of Larry Bird in a Hoosier uniform exist?

Hey! I'm doing research for a project and was wondering where you sourced your profile picture from? I have been on the hunt for the original source of said photo in order to contact them about licensing.  Any lead would be great, thanks!

It appears that @MadAboutIndiana had a paper newspaper article with photos from Jim Qualkinbush.

Of my many years posting on this board, the gracious publication of that photo may be my all-time favorite moment.

Do you know what the paper is?

I grew up in the area so I don't doubt that you can find people that will espouse that but they are wrong. I don't doubt that it added elements to his game but to say playing pick up ball was what made him into the legend he became is patently absurd. A better argument could be made that going to ISU and carrying a whole team did more for him than playing with other talented players would have but that is still a big stretch.

A persistent friend paved the way for him to be Larry Legend...
