Have we got a certified, stamped, Demo comp for Liam yet?

Oh, I’ve had the same comp for him for a year, it just has a giant qualifier attached. The one’s you always hear are Huerter and Kispert and Dick. Huerter’s not terrible because he had facilitation chops that the other guys don’t and McNeeley can really pass and play as the primary in ball screen in a way those other guys can’t. But he has the chance to be the fulcrum of an offense at the college level in a way that Huerter never would have. But, big but, if his handle gets good enough there is a non-zero chance that he evolves into a 6’8” half court primary facilitator along the lines of a non-superhero version of Doncic. As maybe a Soph it’s easy to see him average something like 17/5/5 on really good shooting splits and building a lot of half court offense around him playing in high ball screen actions with a roll man and 3 shooters and just letting him make decisions. More likely that’s just a piece of things, but I fully expect him to be option 1 at some point. Too much skill not to.

So you're saying he's the next Doncic and anything less we should be disappointed.

Indiana 5-star signee Liam McNeeley was named to the Naismith Midseason Player of the Year watch list on Thursday.

Was really concerned that McNeeley might get jobbed on the MCDAA thing because Montverde has 5 legit candidates and there's no way the math works there, even though he's probably their 2nd best player game in/game out. But he's gotten so much positive ink from Hoophall that I think he's probably safe now. But, seriously, Montverde's gonna have probably 4 McDonald's kids with Flagg, Newell, McNeeley and Queen and then Wright's probably out on just sheer numbers. How nuts is that?

I think Newell is the underrated/usage guy on that roster.  He is so much better than the amount time he gets with the ball.  I think Queen, Flagg, McNeely have to make it based on results.  But yeah, all 5 are deserving.

Newell’s really good and he can fill so many cracks. That’s why he’s been on every FIBA team for the last coupe summers. Kid can help anybody.

Congrats to Liam! Well earned.

Side note: Floored that Asa Newell wasn’t selected. Would have lost a bunch of money betting on that one.

Glad we're not like Peegs. rabby is deleting every post about this list because Monteverde players are going to watch the announcement later tonight in person. HAHA like these kids don't already know.

I believe you may be on to something. Also read somewhere that apparently there is a rule that no more than 3 kids from a single school may be selected, hence the Newell slight. I'm sure whomever came up with that never conceived of the advent of basketball factories.
