With some free time this summer, been reading up on the process of repainting clubs.  Really proud of the work I did on the club below.  It’s a king cobra baffles rail f — they came out in 2010 and the one I had really needed some work.  I went with a black/blue theme to change the color scheme a little (was almost black prior except for a little white and yellow lettering on the bottom).  I forgot to take a before picture but found a couple of pictures only that are pretty close to its previous condition (first two pics).  New paint job has the club head too with a front plate that is a gloss black with a blue centering line, back is black matte.  Bottom of club I cleaned and repainted the lettering (changed the yellow “rail f” to blue) and changed center black channels to blue.

Tomorrow (Monday) I have a tee time at Innisbrook Copperhead.  It's the site of the Valspar Championship every year.

This is easily the best course I'll ever play on.  I'll aim for the hole every time, so be ready for multiple hole on one stories from me.  I'm excited

Spring so time to start the thread up again.

I developed golfer's elbow last year.  Kind of thing that can linger for a long time.  Been playing with a compression sleeve and have cut my swing back -- if I extend my elbow with too much force can start the pain pretty quickly.  Honestly, the golfer's elbow has been the best thing to happen to my golf game in years.  Playing more 'old man golf' -- not trying to crush the ball, putting it consistently in pretty good positions and taking my medicine when I am in poor position to avoid big scores.  I'd been running a handicap of around 20 the last few years -- lowest I ever had was an 11 about 25 years ago -- and am currently am at a 13.  Put up back to back 82 - 83 earlier this year which is great for me.

So glad to see Schauffele win the PGA after collapsing last week v Rory. Did not want to see anyone attached to the LIV win and definitely didn’t want to see DeChambeau win.

Great drama at the end. Hope it sets the stage for an equally great US Open

What ball are you playing?

Personally, I try to stick to the best $30 and under/dozen.  Brands I play that I like that fit:

  • Mizuno RB-Max.$26.40 on amazon.
  • Bridgestone e12.  Usually right at $30.
  • Calloway supersoft.  Usally about $25 on amazon.
  • Legato LTX-3085.  Like Vice, it's a direct-to-consumer ball so costs are lower.  Pretty good little known ball.  I started purchasing them directly from their website when they started and for the first year they offered BOGO free trying to build their business up and I could get two dozen for about $42.  They now can be purchased on amazon and list for $29.99 but I believe they are one of the sponsored brands there so quite often they will have a price reduction to $24.98 and on a lot of dates where they are offering big savings, you can get a dozen for $20.

That needs to disappear fast!

Even when they aren't dealing with an accident, the traffic into Valhalla isn't good.  I was at the PGA Championship about 10 years ago when it was at Valhalla.

That said, nothing is as bad as Crooked Stick.  The year I went there, we tried to cut out early to avoid the traffic and it took us an hour just to move 100 yards near the gate.  Literally one entrance in and out and you have to be shuttled in because parking is nowhere close.

Yeah, Valhalla gets real plugged up.  I was there for both 1996 & 2000.  Always enjoyed those times but were in August and man was it hot!
