More than just Clarke involved but haven't seen any reports on the condition of the occupant(s) in the other car so the tragedy may be even worse.

LAPD says Clarke was traveling at a high rate of speed when he ran a red light, hit another car turning left, and continued on to then hit a pole and block wall. Police say Clarke was not wearing his seatbelt properly.

ESPN story indicated no injuries for the driver of the other vehicle.

Not going to post it here, but there is a video of the incident. Very hard to watch, but thankfully the other driver is fine. Luckily, the other car was just clipped and we aren't talking about 2+ lives lost.

So sad to lose a young man. He was only 19.... Just signed with Klutch Sports, had the draft to look forward to. I just hope that his family gets all the support they need. Rest in peace Terrence Clarke.

I just saw the video.

It is a reasonable assumption that f he were wearing a seatbelt he would have walked away from the accident. Very sad.

I worry for BJ Boston who was there for the crash but in his own car immediately behind Clarke's. He will need tons of good counseling.

I agree. It was a bad wreck, but the fatal decision was the choice to not wear a seatbelt.

You're right, BJ is going to need a therapist as soon as possible. Thankfully, he also signed with Klutch so they'll take good care of him until he gets drafted/paid. Whatever team ends up taking him will hopefully give him some extra time to recover from this. The emotional trauma he's going to be dealing with is unimaginable.

Just out of curiosity, where did you see the crash video? There is brief footage of the aftermath on Twitter, but one video claiming that it's the crash (on YouTube) is fake. It's a crash -- but not Clarke's.

The Daily Mail has the video.

From the looks of it I do not see a scenario where he intentionally was going that fast and ran the light. Wonder if something happened before or if there was a vehicle malfunction. I also agree a seat belt may have saved his life but it's also possible it would not have.....that was major impact.

I wondered that, too. ... Or -- I couldn't help but recall Bobby Phills -- I wondered if maybe he was racing, or something.
Otherwise, I just cannot fathom why he'd be going at such an inappropriate rate of speed through that intersection.

This is heartbreaking. Anytime a young person's life is cut short, it is a tragedy. I remember things like this happening when I was in high school and I'm not sure I understood the true meaning of it. Now, it just takes away my ability to make sense of anything. I can only hope his family and friends can find some peace.
