Rothstein:  Iowa State transfer Jeremiah Williams has committed to Rutgers, per his Twitter page. Started his career at Temple. Since he's a two-time transfer, Williams will need an NCAA waiver to play next season.

Journey:  two years at Temple.  Second season shortened by a shoulder injury.  Transferred to Iowa State.  Achilles tendon injury came him from ever playing there.  Hit the portal again this year and initially transferred to Illinois.  Illini fans were not pleased at the time because it filled their last scholly I believe and didn’t seem to be a fit.  Decommitted to Illinois, now going to Rutgers.

point guard by nature with decent size.  Not a good shooter but decent defender.  Due to injuries, has played in only 38 games in three years.  In 32 mpg at Temple averaged 9.5 points, 3.5 reb and 4.2 assists.  Shot 42/27/64.

This feels entirely possible. Indianapolis kid with a Michael Lewis connection. Had a meh but not terrible year at Mizzou a couple years back. And strictly a 1 year guy.

For sure. I was thinking it definitely makes sense on paper

Seems like a natural fit. Only question is whether he’ll want to go from a 14.3 ppg starter to fighting CJ for the sg backup position.

The player he was at Mizzou is strictly a rotation piece and didn’t demonstrate a lot of projectability. Imagine he’s making a financial choice and I doubt anyone who’d be  involved has a better setup on that front than IU. If Newton was healthy I wouldn’t even consider it. But since he’s not, we’ll see.

Trilly Donovan's website says UCF was the first to reach out.

From the article:

"The announcement marks the first of a handful of transfers expected to hit the portal in August. Summer classes end over the next two weeks, giving those who graduate the eligibility to transfer without a waiver."

So, stay tuned. Would be surprised if we don't push to add someone, even if it's strictly a guard back-bench depth piece.

Not sure how I feel about it.  I mean, it's better than an empty space for sure for depth and injury back up.  It givens a "proven" guy at a lower level if Gunn is struggling.  I don't think he takes Galloway's spot.  His handle super tight.  He's a shooter when open, kinda.  37% fg and 35% from 3 against MAC teams.  IDK, maybe this is the move but besides a depth piece I'm not sure this does much for us.

Cant rly be picky when you’re looking for depth tbh

I understand that.  Just not sure it makes us better.   Maybe he thrives in the knockdown shooter role.  I guess , if he's a great kid and willing team guy, you can't really go wrong, so I get it on that level.

^^this^^

For a depth piece, we're looking for a great kid and team guy that has one translatable skill.
