Moren says that everyone is healthy right now heading into Wednesday’s exhibition. “Knock on wood for that.”

I can agree with that for time being.  However, it is really hard during season to know too much about IU Ladies health. T. M. has her own in house secretive definitions.

In the last 7 games including end of season last year IU Ladies are 3 wins and 4 losses trending in wrong direction and the losses were all bad in a variety of ways.  Not a good sign.

Honors for Sara

Senior guard Sara Scalia has earned Big Ten Player of the Week honors, announced on Monday by the league.

A Stillwater, Minn. native, Scalia averaged 23.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists sand held a +8.0 assist-to-turnover ratio in IU's wins over Murray State and Lipscomb. She shot a collective 50 percent from the floor and 53.8 percent from long range while going a perfect 11-for-11 at the free throw line. This is the second Big Ten Player of the Week honor for Scalia, who earned the award in 2021-22 while at Minnesota.

In action against Murray State, she paced the Hoosiers with 22 points to go along with four rebounds, three assists and a steal. At the line in the win over the Racers, she went 8-for-8 and hit a pair of triples and committing no turnovers. On Sunday versus Lipscomb, Scalia tied an IU career-high 24 points on 5-for-7 shooting from beyond the arc and 57.1 percent overall from the floor. Stuffing the stat sheet, she added six rebounds, five assists and a steal.

Inside Indiana Women Basketball Show 6::30 on Monday/T. Moren….. Rhet Weirzba and McKenzie Holmes filled in for T.Moren and both, were Great informative interviews.

Rhet:  Talks about the improvement of Sara Scalia defense.  He also thought IU Ladies on Princeton press…didn’t attack enough but handled it letting Princeton close the scoring gap….He talked about team was tough and improved on defense vs both, Tennessee and Princeton.

McKenzie:  Was ask by Austin Render if she could remember her first two points scored.  Holmes said how nervous she was in her first exhibition game.  She credited her teammates including the guards for giving her the ball to score.  Holmes credited Rhet and the coaching staff for her development as a player.  Holmes talked about her dad at almost all games and his pacing.  She looks for him at games. In one of the games at Fort Myers she was looking for him but couldn’t see him but could hear him talking….And she is really looking forward to going to play in Maine and how many people know about and follow IU Ladies basketball.

IU Ladies vs Tennessee on Thanksgiving evening most watched game ever on Fox per IU Ladies basketball!

Charlie Creme has IU all the way up to a 2 seed in his latest bracketology. Iowa a 1, OSU a 3. Everyone else in conference approaching bubble.

Also has Tennessee and Princeton as 6 seeds  and Stanford a 1.

Not a bad little read on Scalia. I skipped right over it at first, because it's sort of branded as a Princeton game story.

But it takes a little deeper dive into Sara's work ethic and personality.

Seems like an epidemic of season ending injuries in women's basketball.

LSU WBB sophomore forward Sa'Myah Smith is out for the season with a knee injury; she was averaging 11.7 PPG and 7.6 RPG this season

And also this re:  LSU program --  LSU WBB guard Kateri Poole (transfer from Ohio State before 2022-23 season) is "not with the ... team"; "Mulkey declined [to] say if, or when, Poole will return to the team"
