Team still plays better with Phinisee. I’m starting to have my doubts about him and we need to get a Juco/grad transfer PG, regardless of Phinisee development. He is only a sophomore and we knew coming into college he was a 4 year player that needed to develop. I won’t give up on him before he is an upperclassman.

I’m done with him this year. Just watch him. He is whatever the antonym is of dynamic as a guard. He rarely attacks. He rarely playmakes. He makes bad decisions in transition. He is a decent shooter that doesn’t shoot much. He tries to run Archie’s dysfunctional offense robotically like Archie wants it ran. His defense used to be his calling card now he is just as lazy as the other guys. He dribbles about like Newkirk. A strange pounding style that doesn’t allow for quick crossovers and change of direction...................

But who takes his minutes???

Superman Green who is boom or bust.

Durham? He does everything just about average. Seems to be shooting slightly better but is inconsistent.

Franklin who looks the part but can’t hit a shot?

Franklins lack of playing time is weird to me. He has shot 38% from 3 since the Nebraska game, but his minutes have dropped this month. The last 4 games he has logged 7, 10, 2, and 6 minutes. The 4 games before that he logged 23, 15, 10, and 18. When he was getting minutes he was the most productive.

I'm not giving up on Phinisee, but the team does not play better with him right now. Dakich had Wayne Winston on the other day, who used to do analytics for the Mavs and Knicks, and he said that almost all lineup combinations are worse with Phinisee. He just doesn't do anything right now to stress the defense.

This is not a good team consistently, but the ceiling has proven to be fairly high with some good wins. I'd start with what I think is the highest ceiling lineup and adjust from there if it's now working. I think that's Durham, Green, Hunter, Smith, and TJD
