Bracketology and Team Resumes

Recommended Posts

For those that want to learn more about the selection process I suggest to listen to every committee chairs interview they do after the selection.   They give you little nuggets each interview on what they found important and just an overview of the process and why teams got left out.   It will sound repetitive but usually they give new info each interview.   You want to be good at bracketology take what they say and use it down the road

I wonder what the Richmond win does to our position.

foue thoughts:

1.   could make a team exit and bump us down,  If we were last bye, puts us in play in.

2.  We could have been last bye but Davidson gets bumped to play in.

3.  We could have been above last bye in and it does nothing.

4.  we were in play in and it doesnt do anything unless we were last play in.

my opinion is it is #3,

After looking at it closer Davidson should be below IU on the seed line.

My wins over minimum entering today method had their schedule as one needed at least to be 73% wins to be considered seriously for an at large bid.  IU's was at 61%.  The A-10 simply wasn't very good this year and Davidson's non-conference was worse then normal.

Delphi thinks the Richmond win puts IU in play for Dayton

They had IU ahead of Davidson on the seed list before they lost I don’t see the rationale of moving them below Davidson after they lost.   That would be interesting

I am of the opinion that this year that I have no clue what the committee will do but have that feeling that the bracket will reflect the NCAAs best chance to take in the absolute most money possible, and adding the IU fan base to the field will in no doubt increase the amount of Benjamin’s available!

I'm not seeing anything on Delphi putting them in first four.

Happy selection Sunday everyone.   One of my favorite Holidays of the year.    Its also a sad day at the USPS household because i know the season is almost over if im writing this.   Thanks again to everyone that makes this site not just the best indiana basketball community on the internet but the best college basketball community and its not really close.    The discussion and knowledge for hoops on the board is second to none.   For the old folks we knew all that but hopefully the new posters and those lurkers can see that and start to post more.   I didnt have alot of free time to dive deep into the bracket this year like years past but here is my projections

1 seeds-     Zags, Arizona, Kansas, Baylor

this is the Zags year in my opinion.  I know there will always be questions by some that      say  they dont play anybody but that wont be me.    Non Con games against(9,10,13,17,30)  WCC was stronger then it has ever been with 3 other teams in the discussion for an at-large bid

2- Kentucky, Auburn, Duke, Nova

If Kansas would of lost Kentucky would of been the last 1 seed instead of Kansas since they beat them by 100 at Kansas.  If they would of been close together on the seed list i would of used head to head.    Auburn has struggled away from home lately but still has a strong resume

3-  Purdue, Tenn, Wisky, Texas Tech

Wisky is one of those teams where their predictive metrics are not great but the results based metrics are really good.   9-2 in true road games     They dont win pretty but they win.   i can see them lower but they shouldnt be lower

4-  Illinois, UCLA, Providence, Arkansas

Arkansas might be one of the hottest teams entering the tournament     i was surprised they laid an egg yesterday but they have 2 players playing really good

5- Iowa, Houston, Uconn, Bama

Bama has one of the craziest resume you will see.    really good wins and some head scratching loses.

6.Texas, LSU, St Marys, Colorado St

Texas had big expectations coming into the year and to date they havent lived up to the hype     No idea what the committee will do with a team that coach got fired the day before selection sunday.   It takes a special piece of trash of a coach to do that.   i will miss my gif for him losing

7-USC, Creighton, Sparty, Boise St,

Creighton is the team to keep an eye on.   They entered the end of the year minus their stud point guard and on the bubble.   they ended up playing some eye pleasing basketball and are loaded with young talent.   Buckeyes are trending in the opposite direction

8-Ohio St, Murray St, San Diego St, Marquette,

Murray St has only lost 2 games all year    that is impressive and have some quality wins to go along with that record.   They deserve to be wearing white

9-TCU,North Carolina, Seton Hall, Memphis,

10-Loyola,Iowa St,  Miami, San Francisco,

11.  IU,Virginia tech, Davidson, A&M

12  .Last 4 in (wyoming, Michigan, SMU, Xavier) UAB, Chattanogga

im struggling big time with the bottom more then usual.   Wish i had more time to scrub it and really compare these teams.  Im really excited to see what the committee decides to do at the bottom (Subject to change if i have time to look at it again)

teams left out in no order

Rutgers, Notre Dame,  North Texas,  Vcu, Byu, Oklahoma, Florida, Wake

13. South Dakota St, New Mexico St, akron, Princeton/Yale

14. Vermont, Delaware, Montana St, Colgate

15. Longwood, St Peters, CSU-Fullerton, Georgia St

16.Jacksonville St, Norfolk St(First 4 Wright St, Bryant, Texas Southern, Texas A&M CC

Probably some mistakes didnt get a chance to proof read      Enjoy selection Sunday Banners you guys deserve it.

Xavier out, A&M moved to first 4 and Richmond slots in to the 11th seed.  Richmond probably more then likely a 12 seed but I’m not going to reseed the rest for that to fit

Yeah it stinks but I don’t see it changing.  Maybe they switch it up and take this games into account.   If Tennessee is a 2 seed today then you know they did but if they are a 3 then it’s the same old story

I think it is time for all the Conference finals be  done on Saturday
