He absolutely torched the nets for Meanstreets, and proved to be one of the most dangerous guards in the Midwest. A high level shooter, Steward was knocking down shots from all over the court, and then also proved he is capable off the dribble. Steward is working on improving as a floor general, and he does make solid decisions with the basketball, but it is his scoring and shot making that carried the day this weekend, and his already busy recruitment projects to get even more crowded with impressive performances like this one. Name: AJ Griffin Jr. [We've watched] Position: Shooting Guard Class: 2021 247Sports Composite Ranking: No. 10 Recruiting: Kentucky, Providence, Villanova, Georgetown, Auburn, Manhattan, St. Louis, Illinois Griffin is an impressively built wing prospect. At 6-foot-7, he has a strong, chiseled frame and a 7-foot wingspan. He put that frame to good use on Sunday, scoring 23 points on 9-for-15 shooting. A tremendous athlete, Griffin slammed home alley-ups and made plays look effortless in transition. He was active, aggressive and played with energy. Perhaps what stood out the most was his jump shot, as he buried a trio of three-pointers, including one of the dribble. His team lost the game but man there was no mistaking who won that day. This kid is special on another level. I have never seen a player with his skill set. Let alone at 15. Class of '66 Old Fart Posted May 24, 2019 Author Posted May 24, 2019 The Nike and adidas circuits are back at it again this weekend. Nike a 5-game weekend schedule in Dallas. Adidas a 4-game weekend schedule scattered in various cities. Most of our adidas players of interest will be in Chicago. Today was the last day of an NCAA designated Dead Period. Tomorrow starts a nearly 3-week Quiet Period which means coaching staffs will not be permitted to attend this weekend's events as in-person recruiting may only we done on the school's campus during a Quiet Period. Several teams did not get stats posted for TO's, stls. and assists and only had number of made FG and made 3's posted and not number of attempts so you'll see lots of missing info. Also, no stats are yet posted for Matt Cross (BABC) or Davion Bradford (MoKan Elite). I'll keep checking and update as needed. In the Indy Heat's opening night game, Nijel Pack was absolutely phenomenal in the first half. Dropped in 16 points on 6-for-12 shooting while also dishing out four assists and adding three rebounds. Class of '66 Old Fart Posted May 26, 2019 Author Posted May 26, 2019 Saturday stats for Nike. The Friday stats that weren't posted still aren't posted and it's now doubtful they will be. I left the shooting numbers for Caleb Furst blank for his Saturday second game as the numbers that were posted didn't match up with his reported scoring total. Many of us (including me) were hopeful we'd land Ethan Morton and then we subsequently offered his AAU running mate R. J. Davis. FWIW, Morton was a combined 0-15 FG's in his 2 Saturday games and failed to score a single point. He did contribute 16 reb. and 11 assists in those 2 games. Yesterday, teams played 3 games in pool play with winning teams advancing into today's tournament format. It was a big day for one of the top players on our 2020 Hot Board, New York point guard R.J. Davis.The 5-foot-11 prospect did all he could in a thrilling 87-86 loss last night that his NY Renaissance team suffered against the Houston Hoops squad. Davis went for 36 points that included 11-for-20 shooting from the floor, 10-for-11 from the free throw line. It was also a big day for Hoosier forward target Matt Cross from Massachusetts. He averaged 26.5 points and 11 rebounds in two games yesterday for his Boston based BABC squad. Cross is scheduled to take an official visit to Indiana this coming Friday. Class of '66 Old Fart Posted May 27, 2019 Author Posted May 27, 2019 No adidas stats but I can pass along that the Indiana Elite team ended up facing D1 Minnesota for the Chicago championship so the bracket really played out as it should have with arguably the 2 best teams in the championship game. However, both teams had already played 5 games in 2 days and both were pretty banged up and they mutually agreed to forego playing the actual championship game and were declared co-champs.
