Yeah. Tom Allen's resume does not inspire confidence. He's a solid DC but he just should not be a Power 5 head coach in my opinion.

I'm trying to give him time, especially since we've played some tough teams, but I really haven't been impressed so far.. Wilson had some issues behind the scenes but as a coach I don't think Allen is an upgrade.

The problem is there is no pressure. Wilson could have been here forever with his 6 win seasons. As long as Allen beats the Rutgers and Illinois of the world I just don't know if the AD will try for better....Hope I am wrong though.

We're talking about the same AD that couldn't be bothered to conduct a coaching search after firing Wilson.  I'd be shocked if he tried for better.

Note:  I'm not saying Allen should be fired, it's just been one year, but Glass should've conducted an actual coaching search instead of just saying 'eh, good enough, you got the job'.

Same thing is happening with LSU and Missouri. When you go with the popular coordinator hire who has no head coaching experience it becomes extremely risky and more times than not doesn't work out.

And the same thing happened at IU -- for the third time now. It happened with Mike Davis and with Bill Lynch and now with Tom Allen. Davis and Lynch took over at a less-than-ideal time, had a decent run and got the full-time gig, when the smart decision is to say, "Look, we appreciate what you've done, but we're gonna go in a different direction." It was similar with Allen. He was supposedly getting sniffs from good football schools who wanted him as DC. So when Fred decided it was time for Wilson to go, he picked Allen -- because he was afraid of losing him. When the truth is that he 's really not ready to be a Power 5 head coach. A DC? Yes. Head coach? No.
