Staff in contact every other day. I would say unlike most on here the staff is far from swaying away

WHEW!  Relieved that my season stats for him match with those published in the article!!

I still feel good about Phinisee.  I've watched this kid play probably a dozen games - full games not highlight reels - and I like what I see.  He plays under control and he keeps his teammates involved in the game.  Is he Yogi Ferrell?  Of course not.  He's not a flashy player but I think he can be a very steady player who won't make careless turnovers and will get the ball into the hands of our shooters in positions where they can score.  And when all is said and done, I believe he will be remembered in a very positive manner as a PG.  Final note.  He battled a thigh bruise injury (I think that's what it was) last winter and he's had some injuries this summer which probably had some negative effect on his AAU stats.  Injury prone players are not what we need, but if Archie and staff are still full bore on him, then I'm confident they don't see that characteristic in him.

My feelings exactly. Rob is a kid who will literally be a coach on the floor. You need those kids to win. Now am I saying I want him over the bigger name PG's? No, but I want him as our backup pg next year and then have him take over his junior or senior year. His size does worry me, but with all these wings that Archie is getting it may not be a factor.

In my opinion no chance he commits to IU to be the backup when he can go to Ohio st or Purdue next year and be the starter for a B1G team as a freshman. In my opinion if he commits to IU he will be the only PG taken in the class

I can appreciate that.
Although, He isn't really an elite level passer or ball handler though.

He's an interesting recruit for sure.

IMO if he wasn't from Indiana we would not be going after him as hard. I understand the whole "locking down the state" thing, and I agree that we need to keep more top talent. But, as of now every guard projected to be on our roster in 2018 (CUJO, Durham, Green) is far from a sure thing. I think we're really going to need a guy that can at least play 15 minutes a game at point his freshman year and seriously produce, I'm not sure Phinisee can.

Have seen Purdue is gonna use Carsen at the point so he wouldn't start there and OSU is going after quite a few pg's in 18 & 19. If he goes there only to get recruited over a yr later then I don't think he is gonna be happy. Starting shouldn't be his goal....playing time should be and he would get that here as a backup and on the floor with whoever else we get.

Also, we offered Ayala on April 24th.
Bruiser was hired on April 14th.
Ayala is from Wilmington Delaware; that is primo, primo Bruiser Flint country.
Ohio State has been begging Ayala to be a 2017. If he hasn't yet, I betcha OSU is out, no matter what someone's crystal ball might predict.

I'm not sure how I feel about Ayala. He can definitely play but I'd prefer to go after bigger (size wise) guards. I think Mezi Anderson more or less fills his role and is 4 inches taller.

Agree Starting shouldn't be his goal but finding a team that believes he is the future floor general and leader should.   No program is going to stop recruiting talent even if we get Garland in 18 the staff will look at 19 for a PG as well.   At least if he went there for a year he would have a year of playing time before getting over recruited sounds like some want to get over recruited in his own class to play backup to Garland.  In my opinion if IU lands one of them they won't land the other as well
