If Im Fred and I'm making a change I let Crean use the jet and keep recruiting. Even if he is recruiting for his next job. First, money isnt an issue and its seen as a gesture of good will to the coaching fraternity. Second, it allows Crean to get a jump on lower prospects he will need to land at his next gig. Which should help him land a job, if he can say I have a recruit or two ready to come with me. Remember we are making a change and we want a positive, amicable separation. No bad PR.  Third, it also gives a good smoke screen to the fans and doesnt give the fanbase, as a whole, 100% certainty of a change. 

Too many positives not to let him recruit.

I agree. Not to mention Crean might have the recruiting budget built into his current contract where he's still entitled to use that recruiting budget.

And how confident are we in these insiders? Not doubting there's a meeting, but how do we know the meeting simply didn't agree on the buyout in the event Crean doesn't hit a certain goal (win the BTT or get to the second round in the NCAA tournament, for example)? I'm still not confident Crean is gone. Especially if we find a way to make the tournament.

To be honest I don't think a miracle BTT run would even save his job at this point. The right people are pissed at the inconsistency. This is the 3rd time in 4 seasons we have posted a winning percentage under .600......

FWIW, could be just another source-with-a-source, and I truthfully have zero knowledge of this individual behind the tweet and his reply. It all stemmed from looking through The Janitor's page. But there's more and more smoke that hopefully indicates the fire most of us hope for (see what I did there? ).
