Please explain how his track record aligns with hiring a coach with zero D1 head coaching experience

Our current Baseball and Football coaches.

Throw in our soccer coach and they had a grand total of 1 year of HC experience.

For as much time as we spend discussing how important our basketball program is, I don't agree that his decisions for our baseball and football programs, which were in much different situations, are good indicators of how he'll approach the basketball hire.

Not sure I agree. The best predictor of future behavior is past, relevant behavior. Are you saying that Glass' choice for the men to lead the baseball, football and soccer programs at a major D1 school in a power conference is not relevant to the (soon-to-be) open job as basketball head coach?

Not completely. My expectation is that he understands, being the AD, that the donors have much greater expectations for the head basketball coach and are not willing to take as many risks. Also, the decision making procreas associated with hiring the coach for a historically bad football team with very low expectations and little ability to attract top coaching talent doesn't seem very comparable to our basketball situation.

Great post on a Dayton board about what it would take for Archie Miller to leave UD. The sane posters and relative insiders on that board are more than interested in the coaching situations at NC State, OSU, and IU, with many threads about Archie-interest. As a collective conclusion, they are convinced that NC State will not be Archie's landing spot.

When will Archie leave UD? They say when:

"I think there are probably 10-12 jobs in the country that are a certain "step up" from our Flyers. There's probably another 10 or so that are on-par with our Flyers. Beyond that, everything else is a step down.

Archie will leave when the right opportunity comes along. What is "the right opportunity"? Only Archie knows for sure, but I believe it will include:
- Facilities that are first-rate.
- An institution (school) that supports him and works with him to promote the success of the program.
- A fan base that (a) takes its basketball seriously, and (b) is steady in its support of the program. And, most importantly,
- A chance to compete for championships not only at the conference level but at the national level as well.

Anything less would be a step backward from where he is right now."

I can't find the post that had won-loss records of the 'name' coaches before they got the job that made them a 'name'.  Not overly impressive but they've proven to be pretty darn good coaches over the long haul.  Not my first choice but Fife could be a very good coach at IU for a very long time.  And for the naysayers I acknowledge that he could be a monumental bust.  But as the stock trade promoters like to say, past performance is not indicative of future performance.
