Worst decision Wilson made this season was making that punter the holder.  Was I the only one who noticed Oaks was just fine with Paige as his holder and awful with Gedeon?   Someone convince me that's coincidence.   Gedeon's way too slow, his drop's too low (which doesn't allow as much torque), and he's just not very good.  A necessary add, here.  Nice!

Oakes asked for Gedeon to be the holder. Wilson made the change back after the problems became untenable.

Indiana's 16th scholarship in this class is going to a player who has never played American football.

Haydon Whitehead, a punter from Melbourne, Victoria, has played Australian football but will be playing his first American football starting in January. Whitehead, who visited this past weekend, committed to Indiana on Thursday morning, joining IU's 2017 recruiting class and planning to enroll at the beginning of the spring semester.

There isn't much dramatically different about Australian football, and many colleges and even NFL teams have been going down under for punters in recent years. Whitehead trains at ProKick Australia, which has put dozens of players into college, the NFL and the Canadian Football League. One, Marcus Kinsella, spent the 2012 season at Indiana before transferring to Portland State, where he has become the Vikings' kickoff specialist and starting punter.

Kickers really don't need experience playing football, if they can kick. The Aussie football probably helped get him physically ready enough.

averaging 40ish yards. is that good?

Looks like good hangtime. Something we haven't seen in years. I will say I liked gedeon besides his long mechanics. The kid helped the D and backed opponents up behind the 20... Also something we haven't seen in forever. However he just took way too long. Let's see how this kid does at practices with kids running at him
