The only time I hate this argument is when one side acts like you are not a true fan if you don't give your undivided devotion to Tom Crean.  As well as when the other side gives absolutes such as, "I guarantee you he will not win a title".  Really?  How can one guarantee anything?  Mike Davis was 40 minutes from winning one.  If people would just remember that everyone here is an IU fan.  Just because they don't hold the same opinion does not make them less of an IU fan.  Some have higher expectations, and some feel continuity is the only way to get to those expectations.  Just don't question anyone's loyalty when debating this, as well as follow the rules and the mods are cool.  

  Not in any way doubting your IU fandom.   However, when your response is ten emoticons and a personal insult? That's not likely to change the minds of folks who think you are embarrassed that you were proven wrong.

Sounds like a post from someone who is so concerned with the embarrassment of being wrong that he can't enjoy a win over a ranked team. A win by a team that is young, but without any question is developing, improving, and rallying behind each other, their senior leader, and their head coach, Mr. Tom Crean.

Honestly I can't understand why people are wanting Crean to be fired. When you lose 4 out of 5 starters the next year, you're obviously not going to do as good. When you're playing mostly freshmen, some results aren't gonna be pretty. I hate using old whiner Calipari, but he goes from winning a title to losing in the first round of the NIT. Did he get fired? He only won that title because he had 6 first round draft picks. If this core goes a couple of years without improving or winning, then talk to me about the man who turned the Indiana Basketball program around. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

If I've learned one thing since starting this site, it's that it is IMPOSSIBLE to ever meet Hoosiers expectations :) We could go undefeated and win the National Championship and there would be fans who find issues with something! Back off of the ledge everyone or this is getting locked.  No need for the pot shots on either sides.  I laid out the ways to close this.  No need for the drama.  Stop making everything personal, even if it is toward Crean. 

  1)  The B1G is likely, top to bottom, the best conference in America this year. 2)  Winning streaks against ranked B1G opponents are GREAT evidence of improvement and accomplishment. 3)  Standing by the team through thick and thin is a good thing. A very good thing. (As long as your team is working hard, working toward college degrees, and is accepting coaching).   4)  The Hoosiers are playing three guys out of nine or ten rotation players who had rotation minutes in college basketball before this year. My expectations for the team this year were that they would take plenty of lumps, but that as the year progressed the offensive spacing and ball movement, turnover ratio, team unity, defensive rotation and help-side defense, and decision making would all improve, and that would lead to more wins.    That is currently what I see going on. Won't happen every game, but it's happening.

Honestly, winning these last few games hasn't changed my opinion of him as a coach. Anymore than the year up till then had made me think it was time to fire him. I'm just not willing to put all of that on a small sample size. Whatever I have said on the subject still stands. 

Well, lol. I've been hard on Coach this season, but the last two games have been a pleasant surprise. I knew all of the teams issues weren't all Crean, because the team just wasn't clicking. I can only speak for myself, but coaching is how I judge him. I don't think you would find myself or anyone else even mentioning the obvious mannerisms, etc if he would have hung a real banner. Look at what we put up with Knight and all his shenanigans, but he got a pass because he was a great coach. The skeptics will always be there based on our performance on the court. Afterall, we are Indiana fans and can't be fouled by the actual product. With that said two great wins so my compliments to him on those. I think its too late though.

You can't be the reform Coach when you are the incumbent. But Coach Crean is turning some things around. Looking better.... Especially in bounding the ball! Hang tough Coach Crean & Hoosiers!

Vic had really improved his sophomore year but let's not exaggerate.  His midrange wasn't really reliable yet, and he had no business shooting a 3.   I'd say Crean's reasoning of "no one could see it coming" was crap though.

I can't stand the "Fire Tom Crean" stuff I see everywhere now. D1 players should know how to inbound the ball, call a time out, and get the ball down the court in 10 seconds. He has the most information about this team and has been making the best in-game decisions he can. Why wouldn't he? He wants to win twice as much as we all do.    People just want to blame TC as an easy excuse to justify our losses. 

I've read some interesting replys to my post and I have a couple of questions/replys: How do you teach not turning the ball over? What is the drill? As far as the inbounds plays, could it not be execution? Automatically the coaches fault that inbounds plays that probably worked with 2 NBA players last year won't work this year? How much patience should we have? I don't know. We waited 20 years for an out right B1G title, I can wait a few more. Sweet Sixteen loss to Syracuse? You do realize that the core of that team is one of only 2 undefeated teams left right? And a guy from The Movement can't sniff the floor.
