Marion beat Mississinewa 85-49 and upped its record to 14-4 with its 5th straight victory and has averaged 87.4 ppg in 9 games since Jan. 2.  Their season average is 78.9.  

Jalen Blackmon had a quiet first half with nine points before the freshman guard erupted with 18 third quarter points and turn the game into a blowout. He knocked down 4-of-4 from 3-point range over Ole Miss’ zone defense and each one was from at least 20 feet out.

“People say I shoot from deep,” Jalen said. “I don’t even notice during the the game. But if your hands are down I’m going to shoot it.”

Jalen Blackmon was coming off a Giants freshman record 32-point game at Muncie Central and connected on 5-of-11 from behind the arc and 9-of-17 overall along with 4-of-5 free throws. He also had four assists.

Marion hosts North Central Conference leader McCutcheon at 7:30 p.m. Friday, one-half hour earlier than the usual start.

Given a second chance thanks to a 3-pointer from Jalen Blackmon, Marion (15-6) took command in overtime and handed  Lafayette Harrison an 83-77 North Central Conference boys basketball loss Friday night.  Blackmon finished with 24 pts.

Locals tell me he will be the best Blackmon. I was doubtful but it's looking like a possibility.

I'm staying tuned. I also heard he'd like to play at UK, but so much can change in that amount of time.

Almost think one of the kids would like to follow in dad's footsteps and he's the only option left.

Maybe I'm wrong on Holtmann. But I know Painter saw him. They said it was him and another B1G coach. But 4am = too lazy to go look it up.
