The school suspended the players after an internal investigation into a sexual assault case. Police declined to charge any of the players, but the school suspended them based on internal regulations involving sexual assault allegations. I'm shocked that they made an uninformed decision. Quote

I understand not wanting to risk injury, but I would be pretty pissed if I was one of their teammates and they quit on the team before the bowl game. You can say that these games are "meaningless exhibitions", but if that's the case only a handful of teams play any meaningful games each year. Where would you draw the line? Once your team is out of playoff consideration the rest of your games would be pretty meaningless. hsrtxp 1 Quote

It's not worth risking millions of dollars on these games. They risked their health playing for the NCAA long enough to meet the minimum eligibility requirement, and there is zero benefit in continuing to take that risk. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app I agree. I can't blame the players at all for doing it. It's the smart thing to do. There's always the chance they go out there for the bowl game, blow out their knee and end their career. It just sucks as a fan to see it happening. I feel like we might see some changes to the bowl system if more and more players start doing it. Walking Boot of Doom 1 Quote
Class of '66 Old Fart Posted December 21, 2016 Posted December 21, 2016 College players sitting out for fear of injury isn't all that dissimilar to the pro players who have turned the Pro Bowl into not much more than a flag football game for fear of suffering or causing an injury. Quote

They should sit out the first few years of their contract to avoid injury too. Awesome for these players to be talented enough to be set for life because they can run, jump, and catch a football. Our society is so messed up. Josh and Hoosierfan2017 2 Quote

akhosrof Posted December 26, 2016 Posted December 26, 2016 Gus Ragland on Miami (Ohio) is a very good QB. Miami started 0-6 with Ragland recovering from a spring ACL tear. Ragland came back after only six months and Miami finished the season 6-0 with Ragland as the starter. He didn't throw an INT all season (15 passing TDs and 2 rushing TDs). He just threw his first career INT after approximately 200 pass attempts. Wasn't even that bad of an INT. Miami went for it on 4th and 13 on Miss St's 30, and Ragland threw up the ball under pressure to avoid the sack. Essentially a punt. Has two passing TDs against Miss St so far. Ragland was essentially un-recruited out of Cincinnati. Miami was his only offer. Miami will certainly get a lot of chatter next season as MAC favorites with Ragland at QB. Could transfer for his senior year if he graduates. Tough to see Miami lose on a blocked field goal which should have been routine. Especially after they had a blocked PAT earlier in the game.
