I think Deion has also coached himself out of being a candidate for this one.

It'd be funnt to watch tho. I vote Deion gets the job, They can storm the field every time they win, so like 3 times a year

I know FSU has been mostly trash recently and Haines said he is happy as DC, but this is one job I might be a little nervous about if he has any desire to move to HC position soon.

From what I can tell our main risk with Bryant leaving is an NFL DC gig.  That’s sort of the next logical challenge for a guy who seems to love being a DC (vs shifting to a HC and all the CEO style duties that comes with that).

Just my $0.02 from a distance… not like I know him vbg.

ESPN’s early thoughts on FSU. Isn’t Rhett Lashlee just automatically their 1st call? Given what he’s done at SMU combined with recruiting and coaching experience in Florida I don’t know why you start with anyone else, though maybe SMU is too good a gig to leave for that mess.
Side note: as a Missouri resident I’m telling you Eli Drinkwitz has the best agent ever. Dude gets his name attached to every single job that comes open anywhere and leverages it into more money or more years or more support. Every job, no exceptions. It is really a sight to see.

I know the college head coach to NFL seldom works out, but is college DC to NFL a thing? Any history of that?

Mike Macdonald was D coordinator for Michigan for a year but had extensive NFL history before so idk if he counts.

Same for Al Golden, Notre Dame to the Bengals but was in Detoit and Cincinnati before that.

Best pure example might be Dave Wannstedt. Won a title as the D coordinator for Miami in 87 and left for DC of the Cowboys where he won a Super Bowl. That success got him HC of the Bears.
