If Pastner does get Ga. Tech, it will be interesting to see names that pop up for Memphis: Gregg Marshall, Penny Hardaway, Jeff Capel, etc.

Marshall at Memphis could be a fantastic match, imo. He would get higher caliber recruits easier there and he is already a very good Xs and Os guy.

Or they are thinking he is the guy to raise the talent level, then bring in a guy to coach them if he fails to win.

Darn, I kind of enjoyed Memphis not being very good. Tubby is a good coach. He should do well in that league. Don't know if it is a better job though.

IMO GaTech should be a decent job. In a hotbed of talent down there close to Atlanta and all. Totally agree, Pastner is horrible! Good recruiter though

I hope Memphis can be good again. The AAC has potential to be a pretty decent conference. UConn, Memphis and Cincy. Temple is a storied program. Houston seems to be on its way up with Sampson as coach. SMU I think will go back to poop once Larry Brown is gone unless they make a splash. But the Top 3 in that league HAS to be UConn, Memphis or Cincy or the conference is doomed.

I think that speaks as much to how slim the pickings are for Karl, than anything else.

Full disclosure: I know he gets a lot of hype as a great coach, but what has he ever done with any of the talent he has coached? What has he ever won, in the NBA or in international competition?

I've just never been a fan of his.
