BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Fans will get a first taste of volleyball for the 2024 season as the Indiana program, led by seventh-year head coach Steve Aird, hosts its annual Cream and Crimson Scrimmage on Friday (Aug. 23) at 5:00 PM. Admission is free to the public and will be held in Wilkinson Hall.

Since the end of COVID-19, the Hoosiers have enjoyed a bigger crowd at Wilkinson Hall each year for its preseason scrimmage. Last year's event parlayed into a much bigger season attendance at volleyball matches. IU sold out Wilkinson Hall on two occasions including an attendance record of 2,725 against Purdue in October.

A familiar core of players will return to the friendly confines of Wilkinson Hall this season including seniors Camryn Haworth, Mady Saris and Morgan Geddes. Each member of the trio has played in 90+ matches in their career and has been part of the cornerstone of the program's rise up the Big Ten rankings.

New faces, such as middle blockers Madi Sell and Ella Boersema, will be welcomed to the IU crowd for the first time. These two players, in addition to defensive specialists Delaynie Maple and Emma Segal, should have impact roles for the Hoosiers.

IU will play two sets to 25 and one to 15 while balancing the teams to get a look at every player on the roster. This scrimmage, in the spot of a regularly scheduled practice, will wrap up fall camp for the Hoosiers before classes begin on Monday (Aug. 26) morning.

The regular season begins on Friday, August 30th for the Hoosiers at Kennesaw State. The following morning, IU will play a neutral site contest with Wichita State. The home opener for the Hoosiers will be on Labor Day (Sept. 2) with a matchup against UC-Davis (7:00 PM).

BLOOMINGTON, Ind.  –  After a grueling stretch of five matches in seven days, the Indiana Volleyball team (3-2, 0-0) returns home for the Indiana Invitational this weekend. Chicago State, Southern Indiana and Ball State will make the trip to Bloomington as each team gets set to play three matches.

IU will play four of its final five non-conference games inside the confines of Wilkinson Hall, beginning with Chicago State on Friday (Sept. 13) afternoon. The Hoosiers will play their only doubleheader of the season this Friday, meeting Southern Indiana in the nightcap. The non-conference slate ends with a return trip from Notre Dame in over a week's time (Sept. 22).

The Hoosiers were tested early this past week, playing a pair of programs currently in the top-20 of the AVCA rankings. Defending national champions Texas beat IU in straight sets while Miami (Fla.) got past the Hoosiers in four games. IU played Miami close in a match separated by just two total points.

Juniors Avry Tatum and Candela Alonso-Corcelles are enjoying outstanding seasons, averaging 3.32 and 3.16 kills per set respectively. Each player has gone for 10+ kills on four different occasions. Both players are tied for the team lead in aces (9) with senior setter Camryn Haworth. Tatum leads the team with 63 kills while Alonso-Corcelles is in a close second at 60 putaways.

If the Hoosiers can pull off three wins at their home invitational, it will be the first 6-2 start to a season since 2019. A trio of wins would give IU a 4-0 start to its home slate for the second-straight campaign. In addition to matches against Chicago State and Southern Indiana, IU will close the weekend against Ball State on Saturday (Sept. 14) afternoon.
