incrediboy Posted February 3, 2016 Posted February 3, 2016 The schedule is very much in our favor if we can just take care of business. By that, I mean running the table at home and winning the road games we should win at Penn State and Illinois. By doing that, we clinch second place as we would hold tie-breakers over Maryland and Purdue even if we lose at Michigan State. We would also hold a tie-breaker against Iowa if Maryland finishes third, since the record against the next-highest team is the tie-breaker...and Iowa lost at Maryland. So...for us to win the B1G, we need to take care of business as listed above and either beat Sparty at East Lansing or have Iowa lose one more game other than to us. Yeah, I know it's way too early to think like this, but looking at the schedule, a fan just can't help himself. Parakeet Jones and Walking Boot of Doom 2 Quote
Brass Cannon Posted February 3, 2016 Posted February 3, 2016 For us to win the Big Ten I think we have to beat Iowa twice. Then hold serve at home. Other than us, Iowa has a pretty easy schedule left. MikeRoberts 1 Quote

If we beat Sparty and run the table, IU and Iowa are both 16-2 with Maryland as the tie-breaker in our favor. Of course if we sweep Iowa, there's no question. Quote
biteoftheapple Posted February 3, 2016 Posted February 3, 2016 Sparty and the Hawkeyes will not be beaten easily. The A game must be present for us to win. Quote

True, I would rather beat Iowa twice though I think. That would give us an outright title. They would have three losses. And even if we dropped 1 to MSU we would only have 2 losses. Plus it would prevent Iowa fans from whining about our easier schedule. Quote
Uwe Robb Posted February 3, 2016 Posted February 3, 2016 I think realistically 15-3 would be the best IU can do. The big games are going to be our remaining home games against Purdue, Iowa and Maryland. If we win these we probably win the B1G. This will probably also give us a good idea of how good this team really is. In years past we have had that slip up, a game we all marked down as a W early in the year that IU let slip away or turned in a poor performance. Knock on wood, when it comes to conference games we have not had that this year yet. If we finish up like I previously stated I would consider that a great year. HoosierAloha Posted February 3, 2016 Posted February 3, 2016 Hate to say it but we're just a Thomas Bryant made dunk after a great take to the rim or a Yogi not jumping around Hayes play at being 9-0 in conference. Last nights game at Michigan has B1G fans wondering if IU is for real. I still think Iowa drops a wtf game. Alford Bailey and IUsafety 2 Quote
HoosierTrav Posted February 3, 2016 Posted February 3, 2016 One game at a time. Blowout win or grind it out. Just win. I'm with you on this. I need to be real with myself. In years past, we would have found a way to lose at least a few of these games against lesser opponents and we certainly wouldn't have won like we did last night on the road. I'll take every win we can get in February and March. LockdownD 1 Quote
LockdownD Posted February 3, 2016 Posted February 3, 2016 Focusing on one game at a time needs to be the mind set as we finish the conference. We are at the top of the B1G. We are the team to catch. Every game we play is a big game. I believe this team has shown they can find a way to win, be it blowout or grinder. I'll admit I prefer to watch blowouts. But as March approaches, good teams find a way to win. Champion caliber teams seem to know how to "survive and advance". Go Hoosiers. Evann500, ALASKA HOOSIER and Miller'sTheMan 3 Quote
