I'm gonna go out on a limb here... and say that I could beat him 1 on 1. That there are several people in this site that could. How many people on this site played for Indiana? Lol.

I'm gonna go out on a limb, and without knowing you, assume you didn't play for Indiana, nor were you an Indiana High School All-Star. My money is on Grant.

If Grant wasn't committed to Indiana, would he have been an Indiana All-Star?

I think part of the thing with Grant is that we have two other guys in this class that are also diamond in the rough guys. Combine that with no blue chip recruits and there is room for some skepticism.

De'Ron is a blue chip? Grant and Freddie and Devonte I assume is who you mean? I mean Devonte and Jones were highly recruited...

That's not how the coaches look at it, at any rate. Grant was someone they decided to offer once they met. They didn't offer after one game. They wanted to sign him. It's not like they didn't want him to say yes

Were you an Indiana All-Star? I just think it's pretty ignorant to make blanket statements that you or others on this site could beat Gelon one-on-one.

He should have never been offered is what people are saying. We don't have a blue chip player in this class. Those are your Top 20-25 guys. According to ESPN, Jones is our only Top 50 player. To 247 it is Davis. This wasn't a super duper class. Just a good one.

Why? Im fairly confident that I could keep up and possibly best him. I'm 7 inches shorter. So that would hurt me. Can you get me a game with him? Lol.

We all hope he surprises us. But nothing points into the direction of that happening.

I'm glad your confident in your own abilities. I'd suggest not putting money on this bet though.

Nothing should lead you to believe that you could beat him one on one, but you believe it. So, why not believe that he'll surprise us? His high school performance has not been promising, but I'm wiling to give our coaching staff the nod in terms of talent evaluation before we've even seen this kid in college.

People thought the same with Priller... Two years later... Look where we are. We got after he played in college for 2 seasons. He actually played college basketball. That was massive in his development. Fans are expecting this kid to sit the bench for 2 or 3 years and then loght the world on fire. Him and Nick are not comparable. Nick averaged 15 minutes a game as a freshman in 28 games at Illinois State. Ask yourself if Felon could do that... Could he? Idk. Maybe. But he won't have that chance. He'll be stuck bext to Priller on the end of the bench eating popcorn.

You can give me Priller and April, and I can give you Davis, Holt, Zeisloft, Beifeldt, Hartman, Hoetzel, etc.

Not everyone pans out, but the amount of confidence people seem to have that this kid will fail is very odd.

Isn't that sorta what was said last year about Bryant, OG and Juwann - at least about the latter 2?   Not super duper; just good.  All 3 looked awfully damn good to me this past season.

Except Morgan was a top 100-150 recruit. A lot considered OG the darkhorse to be good.

This. They should rank classes AFTER they leave

Gelon committed 1 month after Crean saw him for the first time. Gelon came for an unofficial and committed on site exactly one month after Crean watched. Crean was there watching Gordon. They did not scout him multiple games.

Crean did this with Hoetzel without watching ANY games.

I don't get it. It's not like some Blueblood was going to swoop in a ****** Gelon. They could have soft recruited him all basketball season and then realized Sacha was the better player AT CROWN POINT. Would they have still offered after watching 20 games against Indiana High School teams when he struggled to be consistently good?

If they had watched him all season and still offered I would be ok with it. There was zero reason the rush this recruitment.

Says you. How do you know who was recruiting him? He went on multiple trips to Michigan

When you know, you know. Maybe Crean saw something in him that you can't see?! Novel concept, I know

I say let's wait and see. Everyone knows I want Crean gone but if there is something he's good at is recruiting good guards. Plus being from Indiana chances are he's got good fundamentals. Could be great bench player at the very least.

Being a great bench player would mean he becomes worth a scholly. You mean at the most he'll be a great bench player. At the worst he is a 6-5 Priller.
