Devin Davis cited for marijuana possession

Recommended Posts

It's naive to make statements of fact without knowledge of the facts. These aren't excuses.

U mean other then the citation already issued to dd? seriously? Come on man, are u that naive about Coach Crean that your willing to compromise the integrity of the university? Give me a break.

Never smoked weed but reading this stuff makes me want to try it.

It is worth trying. But I have always been in the camp that it really isn't that bad...... but that isn't really the topic at hand, which is disappointing to say the least

The poster asked if I thought that we were doing worse than other programs. You're twisting things. I'm not even defending Crean.

I'm not compromising anything. I'm not the one making decisions.

Disciplinarian is not an adjective I would use for Crean. I think players need an element of fear for their coach. They probably respect Crean and his position, but they don't fear him in it

The sad reality is that most kids nowadays are too soft to commit to a coach that is a tough disciplinarian. The bigger the ego, the more fragile it is.

You've been making excuses throughout numerous posts. Enough is enough. I'm not saying dd has to leave but the coach has to be held accountable because of weak punishments and lack of accountability . This goes beyond the game of basketball.

Once again, this is still not what my post was about.

There is a fine line here,if you're in the Crean camp he gets little blame,if you're in the Crean s gotta go camp he gets too much blame, it probably falls somewhere between the two. As someone mentioned earlier in this thread, you have to think of the unit as one, one screws up everybody pays, I guarantee you the kids can and will police themselves better than "grown ups" just my 2 cents.

This is my question as well. How many more of these type incidents til you clean house? 1more? 2 more? 5more?

After the DD incident last year Glass spoke with the team and the story goes he laid down the law to the team and he added much greater consequences would occur if there was another incident. Glass said he was positive he got through to the team. IMO, Glass and Crean will come off as a couple of Barney Fifes if they do not make some changes to the team - both carrying a gun with no ammo - all talk and there isn't an Andy to come to the rescue just a bunch of Otis the drunks.  I do not like to see a player or players kicked off the team but at some point you have to let the team know you are not a pushover and there are severe consequences for repeated violations and not just some mere slap on the wrist penalty of missing exhibition games. You also have to let the team know they were warned in a clear manner and one or two players decided not to heed the warning and were thinking only of themselves and not the team. Obviously the extra running, the morning workouts and the double secret probation have all failed as discipline, and some of the players could care less about the team and IU, and how IU and the program is perceived by outsiders.

Caveat - I realize DD was hospitalized at the time of the big speech to the team by Fred Glass, but something is telling me he received word.

It was the right decision; maybe a painful decision, but the right decision.  We were previously told of last year's Fred Glass 'come to Jesus' meeting and alleged zero tolerance policy going forward.  If the outcome wasn't dismissal then it really demonstrated that the head coach and AD have no backbone and only paid lip service to the ongoing issues.

Devin gets suspended and not Hanner? I would bet Hanner didn't even get drug tested as you can buy these kits in stores now. Crean knows the leash is shorter with Hanner so he won't be tested for another month or so. Indiana is approaching Syracuse results off the court but not even close on the court. Sacrificing reputation for the W many can and do justify, but doing it with the product Crean regularly produces is just another head scratcher in a long list. You just have to wonder when the university president will start coming down on Glass for these repeated citations and embarrassments. My prediction both would leave together still stands; un fortunately it may be a year later than what it should have been.

Edit...McRobbie must have finally spoken.
