IU Hoosier41

How deep is your Hoosier fandom?

Recommended Posts

Not here to judge, and judging of posters won't be allowed in this thread. Just curious what sports at IU you follow religiously. Ranked?

1. Basketball
2. Football
3. Soccer
4. Baseball
5. Women's Basketball

I'll track the progress of other teams as well, but I can usually tell you the records of these teams at any given time without having to look them up. I schedule to be free during my 1 & 2. If it's convenient for #3-5 I'll watch, but won't clear my schedule. I'll always root for IU over everyone else in any sport. Have found myself watching wrestling to cheerleading :)

What about you guys? How deep are your Hoosier athletics roots?

(NOTE: this isn't a contest, looking for serious answers and no flaming back and forth)

1. Basketball, and it isn't close.
2. Football
3. Baseball
4. Men's Soccer
5. Women's basketball

I love going to softball games, but they aren't really good enough for me to follow them closely.

4) Football

....but do I get bonus points for doing this in enemy territory? (KY)

I'd be a bigger fan if I could get some sweet BTB Shirts...any idea how I could do that 41?

I could go for some sweet BTB gear too.  Any chance boss man?

Following from Buffalo does pose its challenges - although I do pay extra so I can get the Big Ten Network - my list:

1) Basketball

1a) Football I had to put this as 1a as I am a much bigger FB than BB, only BB I really care about is IU

2) Baseball

3) Soccer

4) Hockey - would be higher if it was Big Ten hockey, tough to follow the team except via social media

Spreading the BTB love to Western New York....

1. Basketball

2. Soccer

Addendum - Little 500

3. Baseball

4. Football

Not enough of a glutton for punishment to religiously follow our football.  Like watching the soccer team hang banners almost as much as watching the basketball team hang banners.

1.  College Basketball - Everything stops in my house when the Hoosiers are on.  I live for College Hoops season.

2.  Soccer - Actually traveled to Liverpool this year to see a match.

3.  Baseball

4.  College Football.

Having been away from Bloomington since 1974, my ability to follow IU sports is limited to this board, the internet, BTN (yeah, I pay extra for it), ESPN and such.

Having grown up in Indiana, I am a rabid basketball fan, and having gone to IU and worked as a sports writer in Bloomington after school, I am a rabid IU basketball fan.

Living in Atlanta, where few care about anything but college football, I follow IU football on BTN, but I've always felt football is just something we do while we're waiting for basketball season to start. I didn't get introduced to football early on because my high school didn't have enough kids to field a football team. However, if you live around here, you must pretty much align yourself with either Georgia or Georgia Tech (in football, nobody around here cares about basketball except those in the programs), and since I live in Atlanta, and Tech is in Atlanta, I do follow Tech football a little and certainly cheer for the Rambin' Wreck against UGA. But I have no allegiance whatsoever in basketball other than the Cream and Crimson.

But it's so bad here that during the World Series, the NBA playoffs, Super Bowl week or Final Four week, 90% of all local sports-talk radio is spent on college football. I get really, really tired of hearing about the SEC and was so glad Ohio State won the national title just to shut these people up.

Incidentally, a poll in Indiana found:

1. The Number One Sport is Basketball, which is played for about six months out of the year.

2. The Number Two Sport is Talking About Basketball, which is played year-round.

Would viewing/following of Little 500 and the events leading up to the race (quals and the rider series) be includable on a list or excluded because it is not a university sponsored team?

Amen brother.  I can't stand sports talk radio in this town...even in the midst of college basketball and baseball season, when college football should never be talked about, it is the only thing being talked about.   And for the love of all that is good and pure, will UGA just fire Richt so they can stop talking about it?
