I think you're spot on with better athlete, but not near the shooter. But my goodness does his shot not look smooth and easy right here:

His earlier highlight videos he was more of an inside player, but his Senior Year he really developed a nice perimeter game, and that's why I think he translates more to a 3.  Especially with his size, because at the 6'6" 6'7"ish range, I think he'd pose more mismatches at the 3 than at the 4.

Pretty much, Bowhunter.  I mean how many guys have been redshirted during the Crean era that have been good players?  I can't even think of anyone that has been redshirted outside of Jerimiah Rivers because of a transfer rule and uh....

Rivers was good, at on ball defense and turnovers and...well, okay that's pretty much it and he was especially good at turning the ball over.

Juwan Morgan is not 255 pounds, 247 has it wrong.  Look at the picture of him standing with Bryant, who is around 230 himself.  The other 2 services have it right.

Jeff Borzello@jeffborzello
VCU signee Jordan Murphy has reopened his recruitment, per AAU coach. UCLA, Indiana, Miami, Gonzaga, Minnesota, others already reached out.

ENOUGH ALREADY!  We're still oversigned by 1 and yet we're "reaching out" to Mulder and Murphy and still hope to land Thon.  This gives me a very uneasy feeling.

Why would you redshirt Holt now? That takes away some depth and takes away a player who has proven he can play at a high level somewhat consistently. DD might come back and be good, but let's not expect too much.

The logic is this: At 6-7 or 6-8 you have Morgan, Hartman, Holt, Davis, Hanner, Troy and Burton. Troy is going to start, Burton is going to ride the pine unless he does something this summer to break out, Hanner is going to primarily back up Bryant. But that leaves four other guys to compete for the remaining minutes. Red-shirting one of those guys makes a lot of sense because there's no way they can all play enough to keep them in a happy place. Of all those guys, the least experienced is Morgan, but he's also the biggest other than Hanner, and has an outside shot to make him an extra scoring threat. So does Hartman. Holt and Davis are similar under-the-basket "garbage" clean-up guys (not an insult, John Shumate made a living in the NBA after doing it for years at Notre Dame in the early 70's). With Hanner to back up Bryant, why do we need two such players?

I mean absolutely no disrespect to Holt. I thought he played great, especially considering we yanked him out of prep school at the last minute to play big-time basketball. He did everything we asked him to do and more. But giving him an extra year beyond the graduations of all the others (except Morgan) makes sense to me, and I think if it's presented properly it would make sense to him. He could use the practice against these guys to get that much better and be a more dominant player with an extra year of maturity on top of it. And if someone got hurt, he could always be activated.

I don't think we can really count Devin Davis as of yet. I know its a long ways till next season starts, but in a recent interview Crean says Devin is still a long ways away from even being able to participate in contact drills.

I agree. I hate to be so pessimistic, but I will believe he is going to play again when I see it. I am pulling for the kid, but I worry that it just isn't going to happen. I hope I am wrong.

I guess I get what you're saying about Redshirting, however I wouldn't think Holt would be a consideration.  He had a good year and was a solid pick up, sure there's things to improve on, but he should continue to improve and give us good minutes next year.  Plus I am excited to see him play next year. I also am reluctant to count on Devin Davis at this point, we really don't know anything about the extent of his Brain injury, and some of the comments by Coach Crean make me even more skeptical about his basketball future in Bloomington.   I don't see anyone getting redshirted, quite honestly.
