Can We Keep Chuck Regardless Of Crean's Status?

I like Coach Martin a lot ! I feel he has been the glue keeping IU Basketball Recruiting's Pulse Beating. If we got a Bryant or Thon commitment I feel that Coach Martin could keep them here even if Crean leaves [ for whatever reason]. So what does anyone else feel . Either way I think Chuck's recruiting has raised his stock tremendously. Just getting visits this late [ I realize Adidas with Thon too ] with a circus/soap opera like setting is amazing! I would hope if we get a new coach he would keep Coach Martin .

I think this probably belongs in the coaching change fallout thread.

 

In today's game I think you need to have 1/3 assistant coaches that is your recruiting lead.  Chuck seems to have some connections in the NE.  If there is a coaching change I think that would be left up to the new head coach.  I don't think Chuck automatically stays if a change is made but possibly looked at by the new head coach.  Hist Twitter account is pretty good comedy.

If IU has a great coach who is personable and has strong relationships with Indiana high school coaches then IU can recruit the state well.  Chuck would be an excellent lead recruiter for young out of state kids.  I would like to see him stay to ease a possible transition.

Highly unlikely the new coach keeps Martin. I cant say I'm super excited about him yet. We've landed three kids since he has been here none of which were top 100 prospects. Needs to seal the deal with Bryant and or Maker.

Yeah everything I'm seeing has Thon or Smith being quoted talking about IU and Chuck. Crean obviously is recruiting him, but I think Chuck is doing the heavy lifting.

Not sure what you mean by that? Have you followed his career at all? Chuck was a late hire for us when KJ pulled the rug out from us. I think coach Mcclain was the lead on Morgan, April and maybe Priller too. Chuck was hired late and we were/are over signed at the time, yet he found/got Holt who is a nice 4yr player. Check the guys who have visited and who IU is in the mix for 2015/2016 . IMO we're lucky to have him.
