Don't discount Glass firing Freitag after a couple good but not great seasons and bringing in Yeagley. That was somewhat of a bold move to get rid of Freitag but he knew it was his shot to bring Yeagley back before he built a power at Wisconsin.

Great move. Now lets do the same with the sport that counts, Basketball

Dont think it matters all that much. Cal come in here and gets what he wants anyway. We just need to step up out game recruiting in state.

Ahem...Calipari and Crean have gone head to head for three Indiana high school recruits.

1) Marques Teague: A nice player, who had ABSOLUTELY NO INTENTION OF PURSUING COLLEGE STUDIES.

2) Trey Lyles: Who, if you believe Dakich and others, spurned IU only after daddy Tom Lyles demanded a salary be placed in his back pocket.

and

3) James Blackmon Jr.

It wasn't a bust on paper. Had decent star power and a player at every position.

In 2012 He missed on G. Harris, Glenn Robinson, Mitch McGary, Kellen Dunham, AJ Hammons... All Indiana guys that I would rather have had than Hollowell, Perea, Jerkin, Patterson.

I'm not arguing that on paper in 2012 we looked fine. I'm pointing out that we had in-state talent we missed on.

Just now joining this conversation. I'm glad we didn't give into Cal. We wanted home and home, he wanted neutral. IU compromised for both, so each graduating class got a home game.

IU and Coach Crean were a million times more in the right than Cal. Screw Cal and UK.

I think you're wrong.

They won't if UNC starts waxing them. If it happens, watch and see.

UNC has been consistently beating them since the series started. They're one of the very few teams that lead UK in head to head W's-L's, and it's not even really that close. I'm too lazy to look it up, but I'm pretty sure UNC leads by like 10 games.

James Blackmon wonders if you follow Indiana basketball

There were actually a bunch of interesting factors in JBJ's recruitment...

1) his dad played for UK

2) he would have limited PT at UK, especially on their current team

3) the decommitment and recommitment ofc.

all in all, despite having advantages, I'm still surprised Crean pulled it off

I think this was the biggest factor in JBJ not signing with UK, but that doesn't mean Crean didn't have to recruit him away from other schools too.

That's right .Tricky Ricky was on him too along with his best pal Izzo.
