Agree---it's still early and a lot of improving yet to do---especially on defense.

 

But there is a high ceiling with this young group----they will be fun to watch!
 

Agreed, I don't even want to think about this teams ceiling. Its very, very high. Hopefully Crean can't get them to their potential! Who knows..... Maybe a miracle big dance run?!?!  :D Thinking too far ahead there lol I know it, but this team has me excited!

That's why I did not panic when we lost a few early-----as an old schooler---I think back to all the Knight era teams that got pounded early and worked and improved and turned themselves into contenders by the end of the season.

 

I hope this team responds like that---we have the talent.

If this team learns how to use its length and athleticism defensively----we could be a top 15 team.

 

It's still early---but we have a chance to have a very good year.

I think it goes back even further than Sampson. I think the last few years of Davis killed us as a program. I mean if you look at where we stood nationally and in state as far as relationships with high school and AAU coaches. Indiana high school and AAU coaches couldnt stand him and it put a rift between Indiana high schools and Indiana University

I can agree with that. I know it may be taboo to say but I also feel like Sampson was on the verge of turning us into a monster. He had us trending WAYYYY up before the investigation.

I agree---but was he doing it the RIGHT way?

 

There is no denying he is a good Coach---loved the toughness and D he brought to the program.

 

But-- he dabbled in the gray areas----and seemed to bring in questionable recruits and emphasized the athlete side of student-athlete. 

 

He cut corners and got caught -----and he set our program back years....

I don't know if it would have been a good "monster" though. The kids he was bringing in didn't seem to be strong in the character department. But it is amazing to go back and see how much success they had when you take into account the roster he had while he was here. But Eric Gordon continues to have injuries from carrying that team on his back during the whole year
