Actually, it was Roshown McLeod who offered Williams and accepted the commitment without involving the head coach. He was taken off the road after that, and essentially fired. Buckley was not involved.
 
Agree that the early offers are too much of a risk. In the early years it was understandable, but not so much now.

Good memory. I thought McLeod got fired after he convinced Kyrie Irving to sign with Duke, but if he offered a scholly without even asking Crean; that would be a fireable offense. One question, why are we still offering these younger players?
