MSU is really struggling at home against a short handed NW team. NW is without Nantz and a couple of other bench players. NW is up 36-32 with a minute to go in tbe half. MSU has 13 turnovers and playing terribly.  I could imagine what our message boards would be like if this was IU playing like this

How was NW up 42-36 with a minute in the first half when the first half ended 38-33?

Izzo has built up a just a little bit of credibility with his resume. I would be criticizing the team for some of the idiotic plays they've made to start the second half. It always seems MSU would be a little better if they dialed it back just a half notch. They're being the aggressor in this game and I wouldn't be surprised to see them pull away before long.

Just trying to point out that most teams go through the same problems that we have here at IU   MSU at one time had 15 turnovers and given up 12 offensive rebounds.  Does that sound similar to another team that we watch.

I understand that. It's easy to find individual games or even a stretch of games that matches what this team is going through. It's easy to throw out examples here and there. Michigan State, unlike a Rutger or Minny or Iowa, is someone we should compare ourselves to. The problem is when you extrapolate that a little you see consistent tourney appearances, wins in the tourney, and final fours. Reverse that and you see IU not making final four runs, let alone appearances. Does that make sense?

Northwestern up against MSU in Lansing, different dimension? Nope, just College Basketball

The difference between the top teams and bottom teams has never been smaller than it ever had. I would say the difference is that the top teams are not as good as they use to be.  Also the bottom teams are probably better than they use to be.

Absolutely.  But there really would be no excuse for MSU losing at home to Northwestern without Nance.
