I said it in my first post.  There is no logical reason that someone would put Penn State ahead of Indiana in a poll.  And I have a feeling if Penn State had lost to Iowa, you would have simply found someone else to move ahead of Indiana.

Is there a logical reason to have IU in?

10-3 with a win at Xavier (and a decent win at home against UNC) + no bad losses.

That Xavier win is probably one of the five best wins in the country so far this year.

This is the thing:  I know IU may go out and lay an egg at Iowa and I have no idea what they will do the rest of the year.  I just don't get the reasoning behind saying they aren't a top 25 team based on what has happened so far.

I do appreciate LCS' work no his top 25.  At the same time, I have no doubt that his measuring stick for IU is different than other teams.

Just read his polls or don't and move on. No need to attack the dude, this isn't Twitter. It's one guy's poll so I'm not sure why people care? All 61 AP voters and LCS have one thing in common and that is that at the end of the day none of their opinions matter. Winning is all that matters and the rest is conjecture.

Sure. But again, this isn't seeding time for the tourney. And since that Xavier win, dominated at Rutgers so they moved down, dominated by Arizona and so they moved down. Destroyed by Kansas and they moved out. I'm not sure what's difficult about that to get.

My measuring stick is the same. If you're 22nd in the polls and you go out and get absolutely throttled, you're moving out. Did the same with Kentucky who was 18th. Now if all the teams I was considering had lost, they would have stayed in.

The fact that you had IU 22nd in the polls prior to the Kansas game shows you don't have the same measuring stick.

How about our win against Neb.  which seems to be getting better every week. Neb. took the #1 team in the country to OT before losing and have a couple of good wins lately

I’ve said this before, you go on being you.

You simply asked what the case was for ranking IU and I answered your question.

If you’re not a fan of the Hoosiers this year that’s completely your prerogative. But don’t expect to trash Indiana compared to almost any other real ranking expert, publish your negative takes about Indiana on the boards of some of our biggest rivals where they make a living out of trashing Indiana, and not have people push back.

Correct. And I know it doesn't matter. But I have my reasoning. Can it be flawed? Sure. Do I miss things? Absolutely. There are a lot of teams and a lot of games going on. Obviously I can't watch every single one. So I have to look at scores and stats to figure things out. I also have my own opinions and don't ever follow what the AP does(as seen by the fact I release my polls at 11). I think I've been putting out a Top 25 since 2016. Been really paying attention since about 2011(back on the old and awesome ESPN comment section days).

I do a Top 25 because it's fun. It's a good conversation starter. I get to talk about it on my podcast some. I don't expect anyone to take it that seriously, but clearly people have and it's gotten some riled up(which might be a good thing?)

Oh what a surprise. The "you're not a real fan" argument.

That what makes polls unique for each individual within the polls.  For you the 22nd team getting throttled on the road to a top 5 team was enough for you to move that team out.  For others they didn’t penalize the 22nd team for losing to a superior team on the road and kept them in.   I say it all the time at the end of the day polls are for fans and for discussion.  I would say your poll has provided that for the board.    If anyone cares I have IU with the 17th best resume so far this year.   5 seed

Oh puhlesase. Don’t put words in my mouth.

I didn’t say you’re not an IU fan. Just that you’re not a fan of the Hoosiers this year. As in, nearly everyone not associated with the program has a much higher opinion of them than you.

He's obviously welcome to post any poll he wants regardless of where he ranks teams.  But his version of discussion is to act like he is getting attacked when people question those rankings.

And that would make sense to me when it comes to seeding. I remember in 2014, SMU was like 22nd or something and I kept telling people they weren't making the tourney. Told the AAC teams were going to be about 2-3 seed lines less than they believed. I ended up right and SMU, even though they were ranked in the AP, got left out of the NCAA tourney. Some were mad but their resume didn't show a tourney team by any means.
