Borzello -

Kansas coach Bill Self was hospitalized Thursday after experiencing “some concerning symptoms,” the school said. He underwent a procedure to have two stents inserted and is expected to make a full recovery.

Story from On3 - https://www.on3.com/college/kansas-jayhawks/news/bill-self-hospitalized-undergoes-heart-procedure-concerning-symptoms/

Imagine this will be Self’s last year. Legacy is secure. NIL has mitigated some of his advantage. Has had a pretty decent array of health stuff. Has young grand kids. Would be really good on TV. Would be stupid to push the envelope and he’s not a stupid guy.

Agree. And Izzo just agreed to a 2 year exhibition agreement with UConn.  I wonder if that is his tentative timeline.

KU will be a really interesting job to watch when it comes open. Pre-NIL it was 1 of the big 4 jobs. Now I kind of don’t think so. I’m not sure at this point it’s any better a job than IU, which is really good with a high ceiling but not UK/UNC/Duke. Their fans will be talking about a Oats/Golden/Hurley type and I’m willing to bet it’s gonna be closer to DDV.

Or Jacque Vaughn. Former long-time NBA Assistant and NBA head coach, all-time great as a KU player, recently added as the KU top assistant coach.

My hunch is that they'll pre-appoint him as a direct-dial hire.

Wow, missed that hire completely. Can see the logic but, man, can’t imagine they couldn’t do better than that. He’s not Woody, but he’s not Kevin Young, either.

He's only 50 and yes; he has some 'Woody resume/lack of college staff experience' similarities. That having been said, no two guys are alike and he will be on staff as the lead apprentice this year to learn on the job.

"We were unable to find alignment on my value to the company."  In other words, they wouldn't pay me what I wanted.  ESPN is hurting for money, and they aren't going to pay a whole lot for a NBA draft guy who they need just a few months of the year.  They talk NFL draft stuff the whole year, and they shed some of that outside of Kiper.

I would suggest they stop sucking.

I can watch blowhards argue using logical fallacies on YouTube.  Find people to actually talk intelligently

Yea I’m 100% podcasts for sports talk/analysis and 0% ESPN.  I like knowledgeable people who can also have fun and not take it all too seriously — I rarely find that on ESPN.

For me? That wish has been granted. Here comes the ultimate in 'NBA commentary that doesn't suck' to ESPN.

ESPN has stated that they will not ask them to change their show, but after a few months, you wonder if they will.  Stephen A. Smith will be doing more on Sirius XM starting this Labor Day, but how much will he cut back on ESPN after signing his huge contract and will he show up from time to time on Inside the NBA?  I haven't had cable in about 5 years, and I miss being able to watch several different games at night.  BUT, I don't miss all the BS ESPN does do.

Yeah, this is the second time that I can remember him being hospitalized for heart issues. Time to retire, imo.
