But continues to party.

They all do and WILL continue to do so.. There's really no way to stop it unless you put a coach in their dorm/apartment hallway each night lol

Crean just needs to set the standard.,

I have been thinking about this all night before I spoke. I think that it would be a mistake letting Coach Crean go. I know, I know, but hear me out. If IU fires Crean, who we getting? Everyone is going to throw out the same names, Stevens, Alford, Pearl, Cal, Few, Miller. Do you REALLY think that Stevens is going to leave the Celtics for this dumpster fire? Same goes for the others, why would they want this job now when they turned it down after Samscum left? So now we are looking mid-major again. Name me a mid-major coach that you KNOW will be better and more prepared for this job than Crean.

As far as the actions of Troy and Stan, it was the summer. Crean can't be with them 24/7/365. The punishment should be harsher. I am fine with Holt's suspension. Nothing Crean can do that will be worse than he guilt he feels now. Stan should be gone, no ifs ands or buts. He's screwed up more than once. Troy should be half the season.

One things that IU fans need to understand is that this job isn't he same job it was 20 yrs ago. Coaches don't dream of it like they use to. IU can't just throw the "Now Hiring" sign out and take their pick. We should have learned that after the last coaching search. This job is a hot mess now. IU just needs to be careful.

To be fair, Perea has stayed out of trouble since his incident. There is word of his improvement as well. I think he finally understands his role. Yogi has also stayed out of trouble since his arrest, but he needs to take the position of leadership. He was the only major contributor on the Big Ten title team that we have. Though Holt may have had a beer or so at that party, I firmly believe he was trying to be responsible as the DD and from word of Devin's careless action, Holt was still at blame. I have sympathy for Holt and I do NOT question his character or appreciation for being a Hoosier. Sadly, I think this incident is the only way to wake these kids up. Stan should probably be kicked off the team, but that's not going to happen. Troy needs to understand that he is putting his potential NBA hopes at risk. I agree, no more slaps. Whatever they do "in-house" as far as punishment, lets hope it leaves an impact.

I know these aren't repeated offenses for many of these players (at least when it comes to getting caught), but what they don't seem to grasp is that they are a TEAM. They don't get individual "second chances" in the eyes of the fanbase - they are "IU players" and "Crean's team" and because of that, when ONE of them screws up, it's a black mark on the whole program and that ONE screw-up needed to be a wake-up call to ALL.

I totally agree with you here.  I think the worst overreaction to do is fire Coach Crean.  Dead on with he can't be with them 24/7 and that the punishment to Stan and Troy should be more harsh.  But how many times can you push the RESET button on the program without doing irreversible damage?

What I'm most upset about is that I have never had the privilege of having thousands of fans cheer me on or chant my name. I have never had the honor to be apart of something so prestigious that players and coaches have been made gods in this state as a result of it. I have never put on an Indiana uniform. But I seem to care more than the guys who got the privilege of playing at Indiana. Getting wasted the night before a scrimmage for kids who idolize you. Smoking weed when you know you have drug tests and have to improve as a player. Driving drunk the night of a loss. Using a fake ID as the most recognizable person on campus and a leader on this team...a week from your birthday. It seems like they don't even know how to party correctly. There are players on this team who deserve to be here. At my count, about 8 players deserve to be here, including walk ons.

You've luckily also never had the burden of being an Indiana Basketball player.  You name all the things you'd kill for, but how would you like your life opened up to the world?  How would you like every moment of your day to be documented on Twitter or other social media accounts?  How would you feel when you realized you couldn't go do so many college things that others get to do?  How you would feel when you start to think you are losing your one chance at college because of basketball?

Don't shoot the messenger, I'm just playing devil's advocate.   It's not ALL glamorous being a D1 College athlete. It's important to remember that at 4:30am in the morning when you are still sleeping and our players are going to their first practice of the day.

AGAIN, I'm not condoning what they've done, I'm just responding to your specific post pointing out the other items you left out that makes up a college athlete.

I would trade every second of college for it. Every second. All the parties, drinking, girls etc. Not even a question

.

That's because you know both and can compare the two. These kids can't do that.

I would trade my 4 years at IU for 1 season on the team. But I don't get that option.

Maybe I'm delusional, but I think '11-'12 & '12-'13 might go a long way towards attracting coaches.  It shows this thing can still be special when it's rolling.

I hope your right but I think the last nine month destroyed anything that was fixed.

Although..just heard this may not happen..lets just something is brewing and could go either way

Wow.

Not saying it would be wrong-minded, but wow if it happened.

If so, I would speculate that Smart, Jim Crews, or Calbert would be involved. Not sure of the contract situation of any of those three, but only Crews could be theoretically tied up.

I'm in the Doyle camp, fire Creen, fire Glass. Both have repressed the signs. Both have tried to wish this away. If they are both the solution. Why did the remedys not begin ,9 months ago. This I'd a lack of admin and staf not taking control.

Anyone who claims they saw this coming is lying. Sure we heard all about how Crean can't coach and how Hanner didn't get enough suspension. But no one predicted he had lost the locker room like this. Not one person

I beg to differ. I couldn't predict specifics. But I was aware of internal problems a long time ago. All you have to do is watch for smoke to find fire and we had A LOT of smoke. Things weren't adding up. When you watch the moving parts and wonder why, questions arise. I've been criticized for being critical for a year and a half because I suspected big problems.
