Awesome week to be a C's fan!! I think Fultz is the guy if they don't trade the pick. I'm actually hoping they keep it and sign Hayward as a Free Agent. They really need rim protection and length/athleticism on the wing, but I think at #1 you have to go BPA, and Jaylen Brown looks like he's going to be really good.

Congrats Gleas. I will be the first to admit I wondered how Ainge was going to do it after their core left a few years back and was pretty skeptical. That's about a good of job with some luck along the way as you can ask for. From scouting to coaching to management.

Yeah, it's been pretty incredible. The foresight to hire Stevens, the absolutely fleecing of Billy King/Nets, acquiring Thomas and putting him in a position to thrive, etc.

They also have Brooklyn's pick next year.

I really like the potential of Jaylen Brown as well. I think with Ainge/Stevens that the Celtics will be the Spurs of the East soon. (I understand the Celtics have way more history, etc just the way they operate in a no nonsense team first organization)

Ainge wasn't even the best GM the Celtics had. Billy King was. Lol

(Hopefully people understand the joke and don't really think I think Billy King was the C's GM)

If the Celtics win a title in the next 10 years Billy King should get a ring, be asked to ride in the parade, and even get a banner in the rafters.

LeBron's immediate reaction to Thomas throwing the ball off the backboard is a reason I struggle to cheer for LeBron. Why try to talk the refs into giving someone a tech or the NBA to suspend an opponent?

Because everyone tries that crap so you're putting yourself at a disadvantage by not doing it.

I guess it's okay if everyone does it. It's just a bad look if the face of the league is trying to get opponents techs or suspended. Take care of yourself and team.

What's your opinion on this? LeBron complains, but he isn't a dirty player. Can't say the same about IT.

Or this. Imagine if the roles were reversed and LeBron was the one tackling Thomas in midair.

Never said anything about LeBron being a dirty player. I was stating that I couldn't root for LeBron with him complaining about Thomas not getting a tech for throwing it at the backboard. It's petty and brings down the game.

Tyrone Lue begging the refs to review a play that wasn't close to being flagrant is also a terrible look. What happened to letting the coaches coach, players play, and refs ref? It's just another example of more entertainment and less basketball.

As far as the play you're referencing. A still image is terrible at representing what happened. Thomas was going after the ball. If the roles were reversed Thomas gets his shot swatted.

I wouldn't be surprised if LeBron campaigns for Thomas to be removed from the league and the NBA seriously considers it.

We would all get on Tom Crean to get on the refs when he coached here, but when LeBron's coach does it, it's suddenly bad? Please. Coaches at all levels work the refs, and Ty Lue does it less often than most. The majority of the time he just stands there with a confused look on his face.

Sounds like it was Lebron not his coach

Lebron was the one arguing in the first half about Thomas throwing the ball at the backboard. In the second half his coach was trying to get the refs to call a flagrant foul.

Big difference in working the refs about calls not going your way and trying to get a flagrant call when there was nothing there. Regardless, the image of grown men whining about everything doesn't look good.

And yes, Thomas gets away with a lot. He gets away with almost as much as LeBron does. Throwing the ball off the backboard after a foul isn't half as bad as slamming the ball down, punching the stanchion, or a million other things that typically occur during a game.

What's the difference? When coaches work the refs they're trying to get them to make calls that may or may not be there. If someone hits Thomas in midair and knocks him down I guarantee they'd look to see if it was a flagrant foul, but because LeBron is so big and strong it's "ridiculous" to want the refs to look at it. Shouldn't refs officiate in a consistent way?

It's ridiculous when there wasn't anything there. It didn't happen to Thomas.
