Victor Oladipo - Memphis Grizzlies

I got to say I love Vic but myself and the whole city of Indy is not happy right now. Pacers lost directly because they did not have Vic to close the game when they needed him. I understand injuries happen but a 'sore knee' seems like something you should try to play through. If you give it a go and than are to sore that fine but given the stakes tonight which I'll explain in the next paragraph this was a very poor decision by either Vic or the medical staff unless he is more injured than he is letting on (which would be odd since he finished the game last night and showed no signs of an injury and was questionable early in the day).  

This was a holiday game and it was sold out for I believe just the second or third time this year and many people were there either because it was a holiday gift for their family to go in anticipation of seeing Vic for first time this year or were IU fans who were anticipating a Yogi vs Vic. When he was announced as out much of the place booed or groaned. I saw on twitter this was a lot of people's first game this year and many were not happy Vic sat. Also for a city that has struggled to draw attendance and fans are finally starting to believe this performance which was a direct result of Vic being out is not the way to bring people back.

Like I said unless is way more injured than they are letting on (which is hard to believe) for all the reasons mentioned above Vic should of tried to play. I don't think this decision was thought through wisely when they decided to rest him with the 'sore knee'. 

It was just my 3rd game this year and I work 5 minutes from the Fieldhouse and am already a fan and will go again a few times but for a team trying to draw fans back withholding Vic tonight was not smart of well thought out.

I get that people are upset about not getting to see Victor play, but it's the second of a back to back in December. It's not like this was a playoff game. There was no reason to risk further injury.

I disagree. This was a game where you ask 'would he go' if this were the playoffs? If the answer is yes you play him at least limited minutes tonight for the reasons I mentioned above. I may be upset but I will still go back and attend my 1-2 games a month like I always do. For the family on the fixed income who spent $100 to see Vic or the mostly IU fan who is not as into the Pacers they may not be back now this year. If the injury lingers and you want to sit him Friday on the road that's fine but the Pacers did a decent amount of PR damage in my mind tonight for sitting Vic with what is clearly a nagging but relatively minor injury.

I am curious to see how the Indy media handles this tomorrow. It could blow over and be nothing or it could cost the pacers 2 days of unneeded PR problems on local radio and in the paper.

For a team trying to win a fan base back this was not thought through well at the very least and I stand by that regardless of how the next few days and season play out.

Yeah his health is more important than the sentimental value of seeing him and Yogi play. Sorry his knee injury poo’d on your pastry, but for a team trying to contend for the playoffs, resting your all star to avoid injury is smart and well thought out.

I said this isn't about me. I am already a Pacer fan and work 5 minutes from the Fieldhouse and always attend 1-2 games a month. I was slightly upset but I am mostly over it and will see Vic in a couple weeks.

This is about the family on the fixed income who spent maybe $100 to see Vic or the mostly IU fan who is not as into the Pacers they may not be back now this year. For a team that has attendance problems all year and finally sold out tonight and is trying to win fans back this was not handled well or thought through. I stand by that. It's not the end of the world but still an unnecessary negative experience for many first time fans this year that the Pacers blew a big opportunity with.

Injuries happen man. The training staff shouldn't make a decision on a player's status based off how the fans will react. They have to look out for the player's health. It sucks for the fans who came to watch him play, but it looks like they still got to watch an entertaining game. If the local media wants to get upset with a guy who has been great for their team all year and has embraced the city from day 1 then they have the right to make that stupid decision.

I have no idea how the Media will handle this. We will see tomorrow. Like I said it could all blow over.

I still stand by the fact he should of given it a go and played at least limited minutes given the circumstances. This was not the night to rest him with presumably a relatively minor injury. If he misses a few games and this is more serious than I think I apologize to everyone and that changes the discussion. But for now you have to understand the stakes tonight and I don't think the Pacers fully thought through everything when they made the decision.

Well Pacers just announced Victor is out Friday as well. If this really is more serious than I thought I apologize and the right decision was probably made to withhold him tonight. It just seems odd that he played last night and finished the game with no visible problems and now all the sudden his knee is to sore to play for a few games. Maybe it was injured or aggravated in practice today. Either way the Pacers are in big trouble if Vic is out a week or two.

Apparently i'm a really bad doctor (I actually work in the medical industry but on the billing side and know nothing about actual medicine) given that I wanted him to play tonight and now it seems he's out Friday.

I guess the injury is a little more serious than I thought. This is the first and last time I try to be a doctor or play one on TV. However, if Vic needs help making sure his medical insurance for the injury is filled out and filed correctly with no errors I'm his man since I do that for a living.

It could have swelled up on him after the game the other night. It could be a nagging injury that he played on for a few games he shouldn't have. It could be many things but like someone said above you shouldn't play someone just for the fans.

One regular season game won't change much. The Pacers winning a playoff series and adding a piece or two in the offseason would do a lot more.

Victor Oladipo is out tonight (Friday) in Chicago, doubtful for Sunday, and will be re-evaluated next week. He’s dealing with pain/soreness/swelling of his right knee.

In Vic's first game back the Pacers are just kicking the snot out of the Bulls and lead 101-67 at the end of 3 quarters.  Vic with 23 pts. on 9-11 FG's; 6 reb; 9 assts; 5 stls.  Guess the time off did him good!

I didn't watch the 4th Q, but his minutes played never changed so yes, I think he sat out the 4th.

The Pacers got ahead of Milwaukee tonight and Victor was going to  sit  the 4th quarter again, but they ended up putting him back in with a little over 3 minutes to play.   Played  33 minutes with 15 pts., 3 rebs., 5 asts., 3 stls., and 1blk.

Oladipo is the league MVP without a doubt. There is no way he will win it but no one is more valuable to their team than Victor. Pacers were awful for the 4 games he was out and now all of the sudden look great again with him. By the awards true definition that's an MVP.
