Why aren't we recruiting guys from Indiana?

The heart of the matter is that kids want to win and win big. They see all of these programs that I mentioned earlier winning big and want to be a part of it. Indiana hasnt won big since 2002 and then 1993 before that. This is why so many top kids in the state turn their noses up at the Hoosiers over the years.

We can go round and round on this topic. My point is, just because they are an "Indiana guy" doesn't mean they have more passion or play any better. I was providing evidence that most of the Movement and Etherington never really panned out. My overall point is that we need to recruit who is the best, regardless of where they are from. Cody would have been good at UNC too, he just happened to be from Indiana. He was a National talent. In state doesn't mean a whole hell of a lot anymore as our recruiting this off season has overwhelmingly proven. 

 

We have similar points... I don't think Indiana can confine itself to recruiting within the state either. But I don't think it's because some of the past few guys from IN didn't pan out. I think it's because the next two classes aren't strong enough to field an elite team of mostly in-state players.

Plus if you get kids from this state most have been playing aau ball together for years so there is your chemistry!! Plus why should we let these kids get out of Indiana and go sign at Kentucky? We should try harder this is a major "basketball" state after all right? Vic and will had a lot of heart I'm not saying kids out of state can't have heart for the school but kids from in state are "MORE LIKELY" to have heart for this program. Does no one agree with this statement?

Confused why people r saying we r not recruiting indiana kids we got jbj coming in and have had many Hoosiers recently. Including my least favorite hoosier of all time jeremy cant leave fast enough hollowell

It's not the 70's or 80 ' anymore, in this day and age of aau nearly year round and social media you're not going to be able to rely on in state or tri state recruiting solely, and any kid that has a glimmer of talent is going to be known and subsequently recruited by out of state and region coaches. I guess my summation is it would be nice to be able to recruit and land a majority of our players from an Indiana pool, but that's just not realistic in this day and age. Hence the need to recruit elsewhere.

When KJ showed up, we got hooked on the DMV. Now that he's gone, I would expect Crean and company to realize it wasn't a DMV player committing to IU that put us on the recruiting map. We are in good shape for 15-16, but there is a worm that works for Michigan who has really set up shop in this state. Meyer has to learn that the state school gets first dibs...leftovers are for Purdue, Michigan, and Ohio State.

That's fair, but I think it's safe to say that their association is mutually beneficial. Without the Indiana kids...there are no Elite Eights or a Final Four.

I'm glad we signed Blackmon jr he is the real deal!! But how many others got out of the state? 3 out of 4 from Indiana in top 100 got out of here a pg, sf, and pf. I realize pg and sf ain't a big deal but we do need good ppl don't low so why not recruit trey lyles?
