mdn82 Posted July 25, 2016 Posted July 25, 2016 Sounds like the Cubs are getting Chapman barring Steinbrenner interference. Excellent return for the Yanks in Torres plus. Top 30 prospect in baseball that is a middle infielder. Quote
mdn82 Posted July 25, 2016 Posted July 25, 2016 Ended up being a 4 for 1 trade, but Torres is the reason for the trade. Great haul for the Yanks. World Series or bust. Quote
mdn82 Posted July 25, 2016 Posted July 25, 2016 They had their choice of Eloy Jiminez or Torres. I think the Yanks made a mistake there but that's splitting hairs really. They got an elite talent from our farm I didn't think they could get from rental. Quote

I heard prospect I was hoping he'd be closer to the majors, but he's only 19. Instantly the Yankees top prospect, although a couple are close to him in overall prospect ranking. They already have Gregorious and a SS prospect they're high on (Mateo) but if he pans out they can figure out positioning later. Hopefully they can fix Warren. Cashman is good if Steinbros/Levine would stop meddling. Quote

He will be a good one but probably at 2b or 3b. Quote

Him and Mateo are both in A+, Mateo had played well enough for a promotion but didn't get it and was upset hopefully he doesn't take this as a slight and they can get along. Any chance he could play an OF spot if needed? Or is he strictly infield? mdn82 1 Quote

At worst he should be a solid trade chip for a need in a year. At best some thought he could push Addison Russell off SS. Quote

Headley is getting old, and at best is average, so 3B would be a possibility. Castro is, well yeah, so 2B is possible. Gregorious is looking good at SS, but if Torres turned into a better option so be it. Worst case, Torres gets filtered out through the minors since most prospects never reach the majors. That'd be disappointing but right now it's a highly regarded prospect for a rental they got for pennies on the dollar. mdn82 1 Quote
JaybobHoosier Posted July 31, 2016 Posted July 31, 2016 Indians are really starting to make moves. I love my Cardinals, but they are doing nothing to better there team. The Cardinals have a good team, but they really need to make a couple changes. Quote
JaybobHoosier Posted July 31, 2016 Posted July 31, 2016 Well, lol, they just traded for Zach Duke for a minor league OF. I wouldn't mind them trading Wacha or Garcia, include Grichuk or Peralta to get a better pitcher. Pitchers 3-5 have been so shaky for the Cards this year. Martinez has probably been the best overall, but just need some help. Talent is there in the rotation, just not working out. Brass Cannon 1 Quote
JaybobHoosier Posted July 31, 2016 Posted July 31, 2016 Oh wow, Lucroy exercised his no trade clause and blocked deal to Indians. Feel bad for the Indians. mdn82 1 Quote

JSHoosier Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 Well, the Pirates got killed in that trade. Two players to be named later for Ivan friggin' Nova. Why do I say they got killed without knowing who they'll give up? Because one living, breathing human for Nova is highway robbery. ThompsonHoosier and JaybobHoosier 2 Quote

I'm disappointed the Cardinals didn't do more. The talent is there, but it's not working. Wacha hasn't been the same since his first stint for half a season. Luckily we get Lynn back next season, but you have to have a spot for Reyes next year imo. Wainwright, Lynn, Martinez, Leake, Reyes. That's Wacha and Garcia that can be expendable, and that's not including a good lefty in Tyler Lyons who's pitched well as of late. I love my Cardinals, but the front office are too proud at times to take a gamble. Trade Wacha or Garcia, include one or two of Matt Adams, Randall Grichuk, and Jhonny Peralta to get a really good OF or 1B. Quote

mdn82 Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 As a Cubs fan I am very content with our team outside of our SP. We are at like 96% chance of making the playoffs so I am not worried about that. I am more worried about getting through 6 in a 7 game series. Quote

Agreed Cards have so many of the right pieces and it just feels like they are a few pieces away. I feel like they have held onto some players too long. Gonna have to be more active this offseason.
