Eron Harris to MSU

Recommended Posts

Some more info from an Indystar interview. I don't like the answer to the last question. Also don't like how he named Mich and Mich St right off the bat. Just reading between the lines for myself, but I'm not getting my hopes up. http://www.indystar.com/story/recruiting-central/2014/05/08/west-virginia-transfer-eron-harris-highly-sought/8854487/

Me neither, I would be a lil sketchy to commit here with as hot as that seat is for CTC. We finish below 5th in the league again this upcoming season. He has GOT to go fellas! We couldn't get rid of him after this past season because there wasn't the right hire out there. After another year of this garbage, they'll be no choice but to show him the door for Mr Glass.

Just my nickels worth guys

Also, what about the other transfer from WVU? Terry Henderson, word is that he's leaving as well. Averaged about 11-12ppg last season and about 6'5 190. Could come and play the 4 for us lmfao!!

Not exactly surprised as all three of his schools have way more playing time available. Sent from my place of advanced, analytical thinking: the toilet.

Given our very guard-heavy roster, it's hard to be surprised at the lack of interest by Harris/pursuit by us.

Then, there's this from the Purdue Rivals Board:

Re: Eron Harris Reply

A little info from a WVU fan with connections to the Basketball Department.

This will, undoubtedly to some, sound like "just another WVU fan mad at Harris leaving" but here is truth about his transfer:

Eron Harris believed that Huggins did not praise him in the media enough, as he did B12 1st Team PG Juwan Staten, and it cost Harris post-season honors (he was voted honorable mention in the B12). Over the last half of the season, Harris became VERY confrontational to his coaches and teammates, during practices and witnessed by many when flying to/from basketball games.  It got to the point he wouldn't even sit with them on the planes. ANYWAYS....

As soon as the season ended, Eron Harris approached the Coaching staff, demanding better treatment or he was going to transfer............... yes, he used the demand to 700+ win coach Bob Huggins...... and Huggins called his bluff basically.

Eron is an offensive talent, no doubt. One of the elite perimeter shooters in the country. He arrived to Morgantown hungry and very humble, as he had underachieved his senior year in HS (14pts/game for .500 team that had previously won titles). Somewhere, over the course of his Sophomore season, his ego grew to be ridiculous, and to quote our Head Coach "His head has just gotten enormous".

A year sitting out can easily change this in a kid who developed some bad influences once he tasted national recognition though....... and I think whoever gets Harris, as long as they don't force him to play defense, will get a great scorer.

I do know that when Rick Pitino reached out to Harris the morning he finally got his release, Coach P also talked to Huggins, and immediately withdrew his interest in the player...

If I were Purdue, I'd be pursuing Terry Henderson instead. Just as capable at scoring as Harris, but with a better work ethic, good family, and an inch taller and much larger wingspan.

Color me disappointed. If the WVU post is true, less disappointed, but this past year has been a killer.

Are we even recruiting anymore for 14 or are we going to come up with some Joe Schmo?

I can't believe we couldn't find an immediate playing time transfer that would have worked for us.

I'm ready for the "sky is falling" comments. Bring 'em on.

The sky isnt falling. It already fell. Indiana now looks up to teams like Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State, Kentucky, Louisville, Wisconsin and Nebraska.

And that is going to continue until the administration gets serious about Indiana being great again.

Nebraska, really?

All because we lost to them one time?

Haha tell me over the past 20 years when Indiana did not look up to Michigan State, Ohio State, Kentucky, Louisville and Wisconsin?

Harris would've been a good, not great get. We will have plenty of perimeter talent over next couple years without Harris.

I think it is unfair for anyone to now question his character and say he wasn't a good enough person for this program.

Need to, no, but you know darn good and well he will.  There's a better chance of Crean going after 3 more than there is of Crean banking a scholarship.

He has tried going after 35 more so far, but few have taken the opportunity. It is truly remarkable how many "misses" he's had this year. It is certainly not for lack of offers or effort.

Question remains, will anyone accept the last scholarship???

Not getting Harris the player BLOWS. Purdue can have Harris the person. Sounds like a Purdue Person anyways :)
