Hollowell & Etherington transferring..

Recommended Posts

Yes.  The same one who said in the middle of the 2012-2013 season that Jeremy Hollowell had been caught smoking pot and was told by everyone that I couldn't say that because I couldn't prove that it was true.  The same one who said that Crean had different standards for different players as to what discipline was handed out for the same violations of team rules, but was told by everyone that I couldn't say that because Crean was running a completely clean program where no one would violate team rules.  Yes, I'm that guy.

same one that said everyone from CTC, to his assistants,to professors who had RP in class, to the committee that oversaw the program that RP was allowed to attend summer school at IU under probation,  were all in collusion to see that Ron was excluded from attending IU because of the oversign that year.  Right?

Do you care about the players drinking?  The whole team (majority under 21) has been drinking this year.  It's college, so I don't see anything wrong with that?  It's illegal as well, do you feel the same way about that?

Actually, yes I do.  I happen to know several people who made it through college without drinking when they were underage or smoking pot.  I don't see it as being at all unrealistic to think that IU players can't do the same.  I don't think being a college student means you get to break the law, even if you think the laws are stupid and you're surrounded by people who break them.  If you think that it's fine for players to do things that are illegal, where do you propose drawing the line?  Illegal underage drinking is okay...but they can't shoplift from the campus bookstore?

Nope, that wasn't what I said happened.

Ok, just to correct myself, it was ONE professor who caught RP cheating and gave him a failing grade, not professors plural.  Other than that it must have been the other RP defender. My bad. I guess....
It's not unfair, but it's just not going to happen. Let's say someone reveals his source -- "Well, I play golf with Player X's dad and he was the one who told me those things." Guess what happens next? Player X's dad finds out that his golfing buddies are spreading the info around on the internet and golf conversations suddenly get a lot less interesting. No more info for anyone. It's up to you whether or not you trust unsourced info, and no one blames people who don't, but just because a source isn't revealed doesn't automatically mean the info is wrong.
Agreed about not revealing sources but it would seem to me that even without naming sources if that sensitive info was released on a free message board and the source saw it they would know who it came from. Don't know why the poster has any incentive to share.

Anyone who has followed IU Message boards for years knows that every couple years a guy builds up cred, states a rumor as fact and then is never heard from again when the rumor is found to not be true. It's a cycle and it happens all the time.

Funny thing is, I have that poster up in my office and as I was hearing the transfers I was marking them out much like you did. It was shocking enough I showed the staff the image at the end of the day. Lol. They know I am a diehard fan.

I'm probably a dick for even going here. But a week or two ago on the Crean replacement board there was a discussion about program stability and how firing Crean would hurt that. Well, just saying having all of these kids leave like they currently are isn't making for a very stable program.

Ain't that the truth.

It's sensible opinion, however I doubt I'm out of line saying that the players who currently make up the foundation of the team (Yogi and Troy) are still here which should hopefully provide an accurate bellweather regarding the true state of stability. When it comes down to it, Hollowell certainly wasn't going to be a bedrock player and, in spite of his spirit, Ethrington wasn't either. As far as the walk-ons go, has there been any information as to why they are transfering? It seems like a lot of questions could be answered through their reasoning rather than the afformentioned players.

It is mind blowing to me that every single walk-on (I think) has left the program. I don't know where the blame should go, but wow.

Not sure if they all are transferring, Marlin is for sure, seems one other mentioned leaving the team to focus on acedemics(med school), not sure about the other.  Someone mentioned earlier that CTC was hard on them at a team meeting and they didn't like it.
