OT: SDSt coach Steve Fisher Calls out NCAA

Recommended Posts

If you didn't watch, their game ended at 11:30pm, the NCAA told them they wouldn't cover the hotel rooms and they would send them home that night. Fisher goes off about how the Student Athletes wouldn't get home until 5am because of it. With as much money as the NCAA makes off of March Madness, you'd think they would at least let the kids stay the night of their game after a loss. But then again; then they wouldn't be the NCAA

Yeah I could understand if they played a day game no problem but that's BS they made them go straight home that late. Wouldn't expect anything less from the NCAA.

I was thinking this could all be solved if the school would just pay for an extra night in the hotel but I'm not sure how the whole thing works/ I don't get how the NCAA should be able to make your travel arragements

Fisher also made it seem like the team didn't know until they lost. I'm sure that the teams were well aware they would have to go home if they lost. Still think it's a shady move but I'm sure the teams were aware.

I would guess that the NCAA does it because a lot of the small conference schools don't have the money to pay their own way. It also makes sense for the NCAA to make arrangements for hotels and to have charter planes available long before schools know where they will be playing or even if they are going.
