What is funny about that is I'm the only one that picked Illinois to beat IU in the tournament challenge.

There's a big difference between realism and constant whining.

The question mark for next season(if Vonleh stays) is how much more are we actually going to improve with Johnson and Blackmon on board? If we can't control our turnover issue then I don't see a big change. Maybe a tournament team but I feel we should strive for so much more at this time. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

I don't even know why I'm so mad. Should've seen this coming after last year. I don't think any other coach could've got this team to underachieve to 17-15 seriously

I expect Blackmon to contribute from day 1, even start.  Johnson, we should all expect there to be growing pains, he will just be a freshman and that's how it is for the majority of freshman.  I don't expect Hoetzel to do a thing until he's a junior, at best.

If Noah stays, the team will be better but I don't see the championship contender some seem to expect.  If Noah goes, we may not be much better than this year.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Hollowell or Davis transfer as well as Noah going pro. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

Why Davis? That guy is coming on like gang-busters.

JMO, but I agree with wsteele. Davis got past over almost the whole season. If I was him I would be very bitter. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

I guess that this just makes little sense to me. Maybe the college games just now clicked for him. Not all freshmen are going to make an immediate impact. Just because a player doesn't play and make an immediate impact is not a reason to transfer. Otherwise it would be an even more crazy merry-go-round during the off-season. JMO.

Looking forward to next season, we will improve in every area except down low with Vonleh leaving. We will likely pick up a JUCO or a 3 star or lower center who will play behind Perea. We will have a more experienced group though. Yogi will have to be a leader from day one because we are still very very young. Blackmon is legit, but Johnson will be the guy everyone talks about. Next season we will be dancing and we can put this NIT nonsense behind us.

Glad to see this painful season finally end.  I'm a Tom Crean fan, but he sure didn't have the team prepared for a fired-up Illinois squad.  This isn't all the coaches' fault, but they need to better prepare the team.  I hope Noah sticks around.  He needs a year (or two or three) to figure out how to play in that strong body of his.  How many times was his shot stuffed in the middle this afternoon? 4? 5?  That should tell him that he's not ready for the pros.  The team lost whatever focus it had down the stretch.  I wish Will Sheehy all the best in the future.  He will be one heck of a coach if he chooses to stay around basketball.
