Indiana Pacers 2.0

Recommended Posts

It appears the Pacers are still a national punching bag for NBA analysts. They're catching all sorts of flak for letting Lance walk out the door. Yesterday somebody on NBA radio even said they'll miss the playoffs next season. Kind of sad that these guys actually get paid for what they do.

David Aldridge is the moron who said they aren't a playoff team anymore. I'll never understand why he still has a job covering the NBA since he is never right about anything. If the job never required you to be right I could do the job, and there would be no pressure to actually attempt to be right about anything

Examples of why I stopped watching National Sports coverage. I haven't had cable in over a year, which means no ESPN. So, I get all my sports coverage from local radio, newspapers, or online articles. Because writing actually takes cognitive thought, a lot of the crazy ESPN personalities don't contribute to articles(or if they do, it is once a month). It has been really liberating.

The only time I watch ESPN is for a game and most of the time I am at a bar, so you can't hear those guys anyway.

The Pacer's will be fine. I am hoping that Bledsoe and the Suns agree to terms and the Sun's will be more apt to trade Dragic. Probably not going to happen, but hopeful. Either way, I am of the opinion that the Pacers will be fine regardless if they can secure a PG.

Speaking of PG, did he fall off the face of the Earth? I am of the opinion that the success of next year's Pacers rests on the shoulders of Paul and his development (which, I believe will be high given his attitude and his forced maturity during the season and off season). This whole thing that Lance was the only one who showed up in the playoffs is garbage. PG averaged over 20 throughout, but didn't grab the headlines because of Roy's demise and Lance's antics. I have faith in PG.

Sorry for the long post.

I'm right there with you on the comments about PG. Guy is still only 23 years old, it isn't like Lance was the only young guy on the roster that has an enormous ceiling. PG still has a ways to go offensively, could easily see his points per game go up again, though this might be more attributed to improved shooting percentage and getting to the line a bit more. His assists and rebounding numbers will probably increase as well.

Also worth noting that PG's numbers actually improved in postseason play, 21.7 on 42.6%, 6.8, 3.5 to 22.6 on 44%, 7.6, and 3.8 per game. While Lance's numbers actually went down 13.8 on 49%, 7.2, and 4.6 to 13.6 on 45.5%, 6.9, and 4.2. Though the differences aren't that huge, they still exist. Also destroys the media driven narrative that Lance was our best player in the playoffs, which is really inaccurate

Wait just a second. Are you trying to use data to support your argument? That's not allowed in today's sports world! I think you owe everyone an apology! :D

Not to be insensitive...but back to the lottery?

Eh, might be overstating it. But the roster lacks a ton without him. No elite perimeter defenders, and we have no idea what we're getting with Hibbert or Hill.
