Indiana Pacers 2.0

I have to admit, I think Lavoy Allen could develop into a nice bench player.  I am glad he is bringing him back.  While we are at it, could we please FREE COPE?

They might be forced to on account of our inability to sign players of significance in free agency with Lance's new contract. Expecting Solo's role to be expanded a good amount as well

Jake Odum is on our summer league roster, if he beats out Sloan for the third point guard spot on the roster that would be pretty cool. LIked his game in college. Other names worth watching are Shayne Whittington and maybe Tyler Stone as long term projects that would at best be back ups in the league. Wouldn't mind adding them then assigning them to Fort Wayne so they could actually get time

Would love to see Odum beat out Sloan. If he was better at creating his own shot, I feel like he would've been draftable. I can say that he is already better at running an offense than Hill...That's about it though.

Pacers reportedly feel like they might know as soon as later today what is going to happen with Lance when it comes to the Pacers. I read this as a good sign for us.

Speaking of which, you guys hear about the movie they made for Lance as a recruiting tool. I do appreciate the more creative ways our FO is going about recruiting guys to come (Cope with the magazine cover) and stay. Wish I got to see the movie

What was his qualifying offer originally?

Based on the rookie scale it was slated at 8.9 million I think. I believe we had the option to try and negotiate him down from that, but he really didn't work with us at all, so why try and even deal with it

I see I was just trying to figure out what it was.

Just signed CJ Miles to a 4 year 18 million dollar deal, also sign European stretch 4 Damjan Rudez to a 3 year contract, and giving Shayne Whittington to a 1 year non-fully guaranteed contract. Worth noting that we're using at least some of the full MLE (5.3 million) to sign CJ

There has to be a trade in the works here to dump some salary, or maybe make some major changes.

My off the wall guess is trying to trade Hibbert and upgrade at point guard.  Looks like they won't have the $$ to resign Lance, which sucks, but its a huge gamble at this point on how he would handle getting paid.

There has to be a big trade in the works with all these moves today, gonna be an interesting few days for sure.

Not feeling at all optimistic about getting Lance, and along with that, next season at this point.

Eh, signing CJ for 4.5 million per year feels like our back up plan. He isn't a bad player, expecting him to be a solid contributor, but he isn't going to bring to the table what Lance does, obviously.

That Avery Bradley deal really screwed you guys with Lance.

More or less. Can't blame a dude forgetting paid just sucks in terms of what Lance is looking for. Honestly not the same positions but Gortat getting 5/60 and Lowry getting 5/62 (supposedly) aren't helping out much either. Then you have a guy like Klay Thompson trying to position himself for a max contract which I don't really think he deserves

Yeah going from Lance to Miles would be a huge drop off, I think. But I'm more looking at the point situation. If we keep Hill at the 1 and start Miles instead of Lance, I'm looking at a bottom 4 seed in the playoffs at best next year for us.

I wonder if Bird has something up his sleeve here. He wants to win yesterday, but losing Lance and adding 2 no names and CJ Miles won't make that happen. Show your cards, Larry.

Also here is this:

Something to keep an eye on, though, with Indy known to covet an upgrade at PG and stubborn perception Suns can't afford Bledsoe AND Dragic

Pacers have little on the fringes to entice Phoenix on Dragic.Their interest, per @ESPNSteinLine, might hint at bigger discussions.
