About to Turn the Corner

They looked good last night demolishing Iowa state

Better happen sooner than later! These next two are MUST wins.

I equate turning the corner into peaking at the right time of year. Based on Creans previous teams at IU especially last year when we played our worst ball come tournament time, I have very little confidence we have turned the corner. I just see more of the same. We play well when Yogi hits his shots and lose when he doesn't. We rely way to much on his scoring rather than jamming the ball into Noah like we should be. Just like last year. Cody underutilized and when we shot poorly we lost. One dimensional offenses I'm sorry to say are a hallmark of this regime.

I'm not entirely upset with one dimension as long as the dimension is driving to the hoop. When we drive we ether get fouled or score... Damn near every time. It's when we wait until late in the shot clock that our issues arise.

I would love to see us drive to the hoop in the first 10 seconds of every possession then have 4 guys attack the glass and get the put backs. Seems like it would work with the type of athletes and players we have.

Seeing Doc Libby's words crystallized my mindset about our young Hoosiers:

Get ready to have some fun y'all; this team is about to turn the corner. It starts this week at home against Penn State, and it keeps getting better thereafter. It won't be perfect, but it's about to be really fun.

Get ready Hoosier Nation; we're closer than you think.

Get ready Hoosier Nation; our three key freshmen have enough minutes under their belts.

Get ready Hoosier Nation; Hanner is starting to feel more comfortable and use his athleticism

Get ready Hoosier Nation: Jeremy is starting to shoot with confidence.

Pull this thread or give me a virtual pummeling if it proves completely off-base, but get ready...

Here come some wins.

I would like to be the first to bump this thread to say:

WE HAVE MOST DEFINITELY, WITHOUT A DOUBT, NOT YET TURNED THE CORNER.

So there!

"Good evening and welcome aboard the #IUBB Shuttle. Up on your left you will see the NCAA Tournament and over there to your right is the beautiful NIT. Mr. Crean, will you please hang a left up here at the stop light?"

"No, I said left Tom"

"No other left..."

"Jesus... Okay hold up your hands, whichever hand makes an "L" that is left."

"Okay but you are still in the wrong lane Tommy..."

"Okay... Ladies and gentlemen, we had a slight change of plans and I'd like to be the first to WELCOME YOU TO THE 2014 National Invitation Tournament!"

---Stuhoo nailed it, we definitely made the turn, just happens to be right instead of left....

So is this kind of happening?

Yup. Sure looks like we have made a bit of progress, eh?

Way back before the season started there was a poll about how the team would do this year. I said by the end of the year they might be playing pretty well but it would be a bumpy road getting there. It appears that may be the case here.  This doesn't mean I'm a genius, it just means that I've previously seen talented freshmen dominated teams take all year to get it together. It's kind of the way it often works. No surprises with me this year. I expected some good games and some bad games. I'll bet the coach did too. Probably most everyone who's been watching college basketball for 40+ years would say the same.

btw, more bad games this year and next wouldn't surprise me a bit.
