(2014) SF Josh Cunningham to Bradley
As an Indiana fan, I understand that 3 McDAA's and 10 ESPN 100 recruits in 3 years is a pretty good track record. We've won significant recruiting battles against programs with much more success. With JBJ we won against UK, UM, MSU and KU. Rojo: UNC. Vonleh: Cuse, UConn, GTown, UNC, OSU, KU. Troy: UNC, UL, OSU. Yogi: Butler and Florida. Let's weigh our successes against our defeats. I'd still say we've come out on top. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
Crean has done a great job of recruiting.. He landed Zeller after winning 12 games the season before. He picked up Vonleh, and now JBJ. All three of these guys were heavily recruited by several high major programs.. When people knock Crean's recruiting prowess, it doesn't really make sense to me.

Who else? You can't be talking about Marcus Lee and Trevor Thompson. Ohio State has been the better program, both recently and for their entire lifetimes. Matta has put several big men in the league and he's an excellent coach/recruiter. Not even close to the same thing as Cunningham considering Bradley.

I think you mean Anthony Lee

But he also recruited Jurkin, HP, Patterson, Jeremy, Luke, Remy, Austin Crean can land some really big gets. He has also landed a good share of guys that did not work out here. Since he seems to recruit everyone he probably has more whiffs than the average coach. I do not think he is a terrible recruiter just based on the examples you gave but I don't think he is a great recruiter because he has had too many misses. You can say that about any coach. Crean wasn't the only person going after the guys you mentioned. Ron Patteron is at Syracuse... is Boeheim a bad recruiter too? Jeremy had OSU in his final five. Luke Fischer could have gone to Marquette (where he ended up anyways) and I'm sure if he stayed uncommitted longer he would have been offered by Wisconsin too. Plus he is a good player and that was a great recruiting win for Crean. It's not Crean's fault that Fischer got homesick and bailed.

Crean probably needs to build his team on three and four year players who fit his system. If a one and done 5 star wants to come then fine but im tired of this massive turnover every damn year due to early entries and transfers. Its really getting old and does not allow the team to have a program feel to it.

This is the first year we've had massive turnover due to transfers (unless you count year one; I don't). We've never had a problem with early entries. "Every damn year" is a little bit extreme.

He also recruited Bawa Muniru.  I'd say he's a good, not great, recruiter.

So did Rick Pitino, Travis Ford, Matt Painter, Mark Gottfried, Mike Anderson, Jeff Capel, Jeff Lebo and many others.

Not to mention that all the recruiting services thought he would be better than he was, too. Rivals had him as #112 overall in the class! Ahead of productive college players like Mike Bruesewitz, Lamar Patterson, Joseph Bertrand, Brandon Triche, Scott Wood, Khris Middleton (he's in the NBA!) and more.

That is why my list only included kids since 2012. Even since then Crean has been good not great. He certainly puts in a lot of time and energy though. You cannot hit on them all, I understand that but the list of misses is longer than the list of great recruits.

Agree with this list besides Hartman. No one ACTUALLY expected him to contribute last year right? Wait until his Junior season until jumping to call him a miss.

Nice list!

Two minor addendums for me:

1)  Matt Roth cannot be a CTC recruit; believe he was signed before CTC was hired.

2) Hanner is not yet a miss, and for our sake, he better not be considered one by the end of next season!

Also, it's hard to call PJ a miss and Mo Creek a hit when both are great kids who never got to perform because of injuries.
