Shocked by some of the poor reactions. He's 6'8 can shoot and is a good enough athlete. Crean sees talent as it is now and what it can be in the future, not just current rankings like the majority of cbb followers. Have heard worries of shooting with this years team so the addition of a very good shooter should make us happy. If ppl are worried that this guy isn't good enough to compete at this level than I can assure you D-Robb isn't worried about Max getting in the way of pt. On the hand if D-Robb is effected by this then to me it means Max is good enough to be at this level. Strong believer that this is a solid pick up and also doesn't effect the decision Wednesday. Come on Hoosier Nation, Max is "verbally" a Hoosier so let's have our guys back!

This sums my feelings up too. 6'8 shooter who can stretch the defense and create lanes for our drivers/slashers? What's the issue? Hulls was a great shooter, but criticized for his size limitations. Seems like on paper we have another great shooter coming in who is 6-7 inches taller.

We'll see in 2 years if it's worth it...but on paper I'm not sure why the criticism.

We are not over with his commit. Two guys will be gone next year, Will and Gordon. Currently only RJ and Max are committed.

Ahhh...totally forgot about Gordon. So you're right, we are at 13 then for next year. I know Crean is known for "making it work"...but not sure what he would do if we get another recruit, yet alone two more. I don't see any underclassmen going pro which leads to think someone would be let go of their scholarship offer. Hmmmm....

There are honestly options.  If Peter can't stay healthy, it may be him.  Lets see if he can get through the year.  Other than that you have 6 Freshman.  Someone is either bound to blow up and go Pro, or someone will not get used to the lack of minutes.  Last year it happened over 350 times outside of IU.  It just happens unfortunately.

Yeah I really don't think that oversigning is a problem. Crean will make it work AND who's to say that we are going to get two more? In my opinion, I still think Blackmon goes to Kentucky and no one is entirely sure about Robinson due to his tight-lipped recruitment. Lyle is a wildcard, it could happen or it could not. I don't think we need him and I also think that if we get Robinson or Blackmon or both, the Lyle recruitment is over (we have MULTIPLE guys who can run the point, especially with the addition of Johnson and maybe Blackmon).

No need to worry guys, there are expendable options on the team. I know it's tough to do, but it happens. I like every single guy on the team and hope they can all perform well, but we all know that one of them will either hate how much PT they get or become injury prone. It happened to Abell, it happened to Creek.

That being said, let's hope we get 2 out of Blackmon, Robinson, and Lyle. All three of them are DEFINITE upgrades over half of our scholarshipped players, even as freshmen.

I see it as a 3-man class. Johnson, Hoetzel, and either Robinson or Lyle. I don't see us over-signing by two this year with the group of players we have right now.

Also, to the guy who said we need an ELITE PG? We have YOGI! He is only a sophomore and isn't going anywhere anytime soon. If somehow he does leave after his junior year then we have other options at point and another year of recruiting.

I wouldn't say it's a sure thing yogi would stay. If yogi plays out of his mind and shoots up draft boards I wouldn't be shocked at all if he left. I also wouldn't be shocked if Noah ended up being a one and done.

I really don't think this commitment affects Robinson's decision. Will be interesting to see who he chooses.

I think DR was a Florida lean before Max's decision and I think he's a stronger lean now. My guess is that IU will miss on him and end up with JL or JB Jr...or some random in the spring.

What makes you think he's a Florida lean? Everything I've seem has been in favor of IU.

I agree 100%. I was sold when I saw 6'8" and can shoot. That's a DEADLY combination if he works hard and Crean can help mold him into what he sees. It should be very difficult for anyone to second guess Crean on the guys he brings in.... Unless they are giants from Africa lol

Also, with being able to shoot, if he plays the 3 at times he will have a huge size advantage regularly. On top of that, I'm sure he's got crazy length, just considering he is 6'8. I'm not worried at all. I love the pickup. He's a 3* now, but he's relatively unheard of. I think his reputation will increase throughout the season, possibly get up to a 4*
