Willie Yarbary is a Musketeer, but he doesn't need a sword to dominate on the football field.

 

Whether he’s lining up as a defensive lineman or checking in at tight end, Yarbary uses his size and foot speed to cut down offensive linemen, stop the quarterback or break away from a defender.

 

“When you play defense, you don’t have to have a lot of rules,” Yarbary said. “You just have to swarm to the ball and get the ball.”

 

Swashbucklers use their quick feet to gain leverage against opponents. Yarbary has tried to gain that ability by selecting particular teammates to joust with during the week leading up to a game.

 

“When we have practice, I try to go up against, instead of linemen, go against linebackers and special teams guys,” Yarbary said. “It makes it more difficult and it makes me work – it makes me better.”

 

Richmond Academy coach Chris Hughes said Yarbary’s versatility and presence make it easier to stabilize the line. As a sophomore, Yarbary played defensive end and could pass rush from the outside with his speed. As a junior, Yarbary was moved to defensive tackle and could get into the mix inside because of his strength.

 

No matter his position, Yarbary is a weapon.

 

“He’s strong – extremely strong,” Hughes said. “But he’s got real good hands. Technique-wise, he’s perfect. He’s really quick off the ball.”

Don't you just hate when a player flips his commitment ONE DAY before Signing Day? Man, that's frustrating. Opens up another spot for some of the other guys we're going after, though.

No, I don't know of any that we are going after at the DE position, but the coaches may have something up their sleeves. Also, they seem to be a little more concerned with DBs, so I guess this helps them out, just in case we get some of them to commit. Maybe Ballew comes into the picture now?

He seemed like a better fit in the 4-3. I think you will see guys like Newton/Gooch walk up over the TE in the 3-4. You will see the staff grab another OLB for this spot.

Well I did look at his ESPN profile earlier and it had Wake Forest as not having offered. So, they could've offered recently and that's what he was waiting on. I haven't read the article yet, but planned on doing a little more research tonight.

Wake Forest received a verbal commitment from defensive end and former Indiana commit, Willie Yarbary, who visited Wake Forest this past weekend.

Willie Yarbary is a 6’2" 270 pound defensive pound defensive lineman from the Academy of Richmond County in Augusta, Georgia. Yarbary was previously committed to Indiana University, but decided to flip his commitment following his official visit to Wake Forest this past weekend. Ironically enough, the current defensive coordinator at Indiana University is former Wake Forest University defensive coordinator, Brian Knorr.

The consensus 3 star recruit This past season, Yarbary recorded 97 total tackles, 53 of which were solo, 9 sacks, 1 interception, and 1 forced fumble. For his efforts, Yarbary was named honorable mention all-state for Class AAAA in Georgia.

Yarbary will join fellow defensive line commits Zeek Rodney, Rashawn Shaw and Chris Stewart (Knight). Please join me in welcoming Willie to Wake Forest!

Do you know of any at DE? We didn't put much of a list together for this class.

McCrary(?) who visited last weekend is kind of a hybrid DE/LB that is expected to fit the 3-4 pretty well. Not sure of any others at the moment, but I would be surprised if the coaching staff wasn't keeping tabs on a guy or two.
