I think he’d be a great assistant / addition to the staff.

Maybe. I am curious if we make any changes to the staff. The one guy everyone wants to see fired is the one guy who can land big man from Kansas. I’m going to take a wait and see approach and see how this portal season ends up. Then see if DeVries thinks changes need made.

There are a lot of things DD has done, post-staffing disaster, to win me over. While putting temp hires Kenny and Drew in place he engaged Carr and stayed in contact while he muddled through forming this year's roster. Then he was able to get Rod Clark. He proved to me he could coach this year. Then next year started early with Carr. I expect an 80% reboot. I appreciate Lewis for his play, but we need a euro talent acquisition guy. (Geoff Alexander) and someone that can get perimeter athletes to compliment Clark. (Chin Coleman.) The talent acquisition group should go from an absurdity to a position of strength. I'm confident that Sisley and 3 freshmen will be back. After that, I'm not sure of anyone else.

Lewis a great on court coach, with questionable recruiting chops.  So if the role we are replacing is the on court coach primarily, that's probably when you bring him in.  That's not this year.

In terms recruiting chops, I’m not sure what it would take someone to go to Muncie and play for almost nothing.

What are we basing "great on court coach" on?  I am not doubting you, just not paid that much attention to him as a coach.

He was getting a lot of the praise as an assistant at UCLA when they made a run to the final four.  Cronin gave him a lot of public praise for his game planning

I thought he was also known for being a good recruiter for Cronin.    Maybe he was just known for Xs and Os.   Either way - it seemed like he was always regarded as an up and coming top assistant and people predicted he’d make a great head coach one day.    Hopefully he gets a second chance down the road.
