(2027) QB Jameson Purcell to Indiana

Recommended Posts

4* from outside of Chicago.  A lot of big time offers.

Quite a bit of buzz here.  Some of his family went to IU.  At the moment On3 is predicting him to go our way.  Would be a nice start to the '27 class.  We shall see -- knock on wood.

Note the shirt.

Committed!  Should help with other ‘27 recruits too.

Love having the QB on board early, much easier to recruit the class with this key cog knocked out!

And yet another example of the staff prioritizing the Midwest - love to see it!

A big get for IUFB. Let's hope he signs.

Also, this commitment indicates, or it appears at least, that Coach Cig is now on his recruiting schedule. If you recall, he and his staff have been playing catch up since he arrived in Bloomington in late November 2023.

Both parents having gone to IU has to help.

At least as far as QBs go.  Although if Fernando goes pro after this year, will he go with one of his young QBs or want to bring in someone with more experience?  We will have a good number of QBs but all will be youngish.  Of course, Purcell won't even arrive til after that.

I think I saw an article somewhere saying the team will be really young in 26 when many of his transfers from JMU depart.  Likely still going to be tad more portal heavy in the 26 class than Cigs will typically want.

I imagine we will have a Mendoza under center the next few years

If Fernando goes in the '26 draft (and I think this is extremely likely), Cig will be able to hand pick who he wants out of the portal. Going to be tough to pass that up.

Sounds right.

It’s already happened when Fernando passed on UGA and Miami to come here, but IUFB being a place where QB’s can trust the staff with their pro careers is one of the best things I’ve seen happen in IU athletics.

Of course we need to Fernando to have a good year, but it’s becoming clear we are a place to be developed and showcased.
